Default O2 Codes

It seems like every few months an O2 code seems to be trown on my car.

I seem to get P0153 more often than anything else but on I also seem to get P1153 at times. A couple of weeks ago I got both codes on my drive to work. I went ahead and replaced the 02. I had an extra one from when I did the header install on the car. Light is still on but I've only driven the car a little since swaping the 02 out.

What could be causing these codes to be trown so often and is there anything I can do to prevent it or cause it to come on less often? Back in Feb. the SES light came on while driving but turned off after a few seconds so I never found out the code but I assumed it was the P0153 code. Driverside never seems to throw a code. In fact I can't remember it ever throwing a code for that side

If you got headers with no emission holes you will get the SES light. If you erase the codes with a scanner that is a temp fix you have to delete them out with a tune or a turner.

Even when the car was stock I would get the codes. That is why I think there must be something I'm missing with this. Both codes are for B2S1 codes. The rear 02 codes have been turned off on the car. They have been off ever since I did the header install several years ago.

Car has QTP headers (non emmision), off road Y, lid, ported TB, underdrive pully, catback.

get a tune and have them also turn off the 1153 and 1133 codes... they are pointless anyway. there are other methods/codes that will tell u your 02's are bad

Other codes like the P0153? Car still runs fine and I would think if the O2s were bad it would run like crap right?

Do you think this was the problem when I was stock also or just since the header install?

Its the slow switching code. I can't remember the exact wording but that's pretty much what it is.

I spoke with a friend and he suggested turning the codes off with a tune but I assume he was talking about the P1153 code.

In my experience P0133 and P0153 are the front O2 codes that will tell you that you really have a problem (too slow switching) with a front O2 sensor when you have P01133 and P01153 turned off.

yeh you might want to get the p0153 code checked out or try some new 02s for that...

the 1153 and 1133 codes are just annoying and can die, they are silly and I see no reason for them, as everyone has problems once they do some or any exhaust mods. Other codes on the other hand yield warnings and tell you if things are going bad or not

Well I have replaced the 02 with an extra that I had. I didn't want to clear the code because I really would like the light to go off once the drive cycle is complete. I did this last time and it worked fine. It just seems to take a while to get it to turn off. I'll see about getting the 1153 & 1133 deleted out when I get the tune done

Thanks for the responses
