Default Possible to eliminate electronic throttle in ecm?

Can HPtuners or LS1edit actually remove the electronic throttle control on an E38 ECM? I want to use this engine in a cable actuated car, and I don't want to buy the electronic throttle.

Maybe I'm looking at this wrong. Revised question is, do I need to remove the electronic throttle control if I'm using a cable throttle?

Now Im not 100% But I sure as hell don't think so. There are simply way to many ETC parametres in an E38 when I've scanned through them all in EFI LIVE. If I'm right and it isn't possible, perhaps converting to a 512k LS1 PCM might be the go.. Really depends on how bad you want a cable throttle to justify changing all the other items over for Delphi PCM compatability. Personally, I'd rig up an elec throttle pedal as it would be far less work.

I am pretty sure it has been mentioned on this fourm that the E38 PCM doesn't have an idle control motor.

Correct if wrong.

hmm...I guess I will have to set the idle with the stop screw. The engine is going into an RX7 and I have no desire to buy and install a gm electronic throttle in the car. I guess I'll have to change the crank wheel and use an LS1 ECM.....thanks guys!

I think you are better off with a cable TB. If you don't have all your settings right on a fly by wire it can go into reduced power mode. It can leave you going 5 MPH down the interstate.....

I agree with you sir! I don't want to mess with it at all. I have everything ready to go so i didn't want to bother with the electronic stuff....my traction control is my right foot =)

I'm sure you can swap all the iac parameters and other parts into the tune from something like a camaro tune

Stevied are you saying I can just rewrite the whole ecm and make it think it's a say, 2001 camaro or something like that?

You can't do it dude as no E38 controller that I know of had support for an IAC as they are all ETC.

As mentioned there is no driver on the E38 computer for a IAC motor, so you gona have trouble getting it to idle consistently with a cable set up. FWIW, I installed a drive by wire pedal set up in the 72 Chevy pick of my dads, that I put a 04, DBW 5.3 in and it was a piece of cake. Mount the throttle pedal (2 bolts to the fire wall), plug it in, mount the TAC module (3 screws to the fire wall), plug it in and walla, DBW first time with the stock 5.3 programing. Very easy.

yea, the pedal would be easy enough to do, but it's a huge, hideous gm truck pedal and it would look way out of place in my little rx7 =) I'm just gonna use the LS1 ecm
