I Have a complete DBW 2004 CTS-V 400 hp LS6 engine with harness that is going into a Nova. I need a PCM though, and after reading some posts here I think having "lean cruise" would be a great feature since I'm keeping the engine stock for now. Since both the '04 GTO and the '04 CTS-V use the same 12586243 PCM I just need to pick a tune, correct? From what I've read here, the '04 GTO is the only OEM tune that has the lean cruise, correct?
Here's an '04 GTO PCM:

Also, there's the option of modifying the "Chevy" tunes based on these posts:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/pcm-diagnostics-tuning/646304-anybody-played-leaning-things-out-during-cruise-gas-mileage.html
https://ls1tech.com/forums/pcm-diagnostics-tuning/942278-lean-cruise-tables.html
It seems the most direct path to fire up my LS6 and drive to the tuner appears to be an GTO tune on a 243 PCM and a then receive a custom tune later to get the 400HP back.
Am I on track here? Any foreseeable issues using the GTO base tune?

Yes, I was planning on it, for the ease of setting up cruise control. I know the 243 PCM will support it but to your point that's with a CTS-V or Z06 tune. So that raises another question...
Can the GTO tune support DBW?

The CTS-V OS from an 04 is 12588804 where as the 04 GTO OS is 12587604. I would imagine the difference is the CTS-V operating system expecting to control an ETC setup where the GTO expects to control an IAC motor. You can't swap the OS segment with EFILive, but even if you could, switching from the GTO OS to the CTS-V OS would disable lean cruise.
If you follow some of the advice from the other thread, you could enable lean cruise in the PCM of your choice (including the CTS-V PCM).
I think the answers to your questions are: no, you cannot use the GTO PCM straight out of the box to control the ETC (DBW) engine but you could if you reflashed it with an ETC-enabled OS and yes it is possible to have lean cruise on that PCM number with the CTS-V OS.
