Default tuning question

is there anyway to run a setup(370 88mm) without the narrow bands? i have a wide band and was wondering if a SD tune would need narrow bands. any info is appreciated. thanks

Yes you can get an open loop speed density (olsd) tune and not use the factory narrowbands at all.

If you are running one of our custom operating systems you'll have full functionality of the high & low octane spark tables while in SD mode.

The reason they have nb is that the a/f ratio changes all the time. You can run open loop but you have to keep after it all the time. My friend does this. If you dont you will get lean and have miss fire. If you work at it you can do it. My question why do you want to?

well my laptop is mounted in the car and always running when the car is. i have the ability to tune the car as much as i want with my hptuners, once the tune is on i dont see it needed to be changed too much. the air intake temp sensor will compensate for some and as long as its always monitors i think ill be ok.

uh huh.... how will you tune the IAT as it gets heat soaked (which will drastically alter OL fueling) from slow to low speed driving/idling?

Might want to check your calibration.

I run OL and the changes are VERY mild from day to day. Barely noticeable.

Where did you put your IAT? 30+ deg of heat soak in the Richmond summertime makes OL cars wander off lean... Nearly all of cars that I leave in OL are race cars.

My IAT is mounted up by the latch mechanism. It was actually a very easy job. I have a truck MAF with internal but decided to mount outside of the "engine compartment."

I think the IAT is still subject to some heating when you park your car outside just from the frame of the car heating up but it isn't that bad.

My IAT is comparable with an outside thermo most of the time.

It's pretty easy for a NA car to relocate the IAT. It's less easy in an FI setup that needs it in a pipe that sees boost.

It sure is nice when it's relocated on an NA car though.

is it possible to run 1or narrow band? i have my pipes ceramic coated and the driver side one is in the way of the exhaust in the up pipe.i dont want to mess the finish, could i put a narrow band in the exhaust pipe (down pipe) after the turbo. i heard it wont be as accurate. could both just go in the exhaust pipe?
