My car uses a 98 PCM. You can either pay a pro tuner $500-$750 or buy a wide band O2 sensor & tuning software. Having done both, I would stronly suggest buying tuning software, learning, & tuning yourself. Personally, I have had no major issues using a 98 PCM & tuning an NA, intake, heads, cam, headers car.
You will save $1,000 + by doing it yourself & will end up with a more accurate street tune. Am not knocking the pro's. The difference is that you can spend a couple of weeks, months, whatever tweaking as you please, where as a pro-tuner has the car for a very short time.

Yes, all that is needed is a wide band 02 sensor & tuning software. WOT tuning is risky on the street, but, can be done. There is a lot of learning involved. So, if your not into putting a lot of time in learning & asking a lot of tuning questions, then go w/ a pro. If you're willing to put the time in, make some mistakes, & learn, then a wide band & an 02 sensor is truly a long term solution. Once you have a good understanding of basic tuning, you can tune for mods indefinately.
I'm not gonna say which tuning company's software to use. Would suggest that you speak with both reps (whom have posted here) & decide for yourself. Both compaines provide excellent software & really it's matter of your needs & comfort level.

I would buy EFI Live and tune it yourself. I used to fool around with handhelds and finally realized they are not the best option. I also am not a big fan of mail order tunes because every car needs to be tuned differantly. With a mail order they just tune it the best they can and get it in the ballpark. With EFI Live after you tune it then you can log while driving so you can check for knock retard and the fueling and then make the fine tune adjustments. If you had the software I could even help you tune the car just by emailing the tune to me and sending it back to you. Tuning a bolton car is really easy. It starts to get a little tricky with a cam but that's all the fun.
