knock retard question using autotap

Default knock retard question using autotap

at wot at the end of second gear i get like .20-.40 degrees of retard is this bad? Should i consider using different gas...iat temp was like 77 degrees so its not like it was boiling hot.

of course that would happen to be one of the few things i DIDNT log lol I'll make a few more short runs maybe tonight and get back at you...what is the corralation between the two and what is safe and not safe this in turn might give me the heads up and maybe there wont need to be another post on this topic.

what octain are you running? are you on the stock tune? what are the mv readings of the o2s? the ls1 has a bad tendancy to get false KR can you actually hear it detonating?

You are not too bad on KR, from a safety standpoint. If it is less than 4 degrees, the computer has room to compensate, based on the Max Retard values in the PCM tables.

However, repeated KR (no one is ballsy enough to say how much and how often that is), the PCM could transfer you to the Low Octane Spark Advance table, which has lower timing. 1 or 2 degrees of KR is generally considered to be acceptable. I try to avoid anything greater than 3 degrees of KR.

However, some will say ANY KR is bad because it may make you shake hands with the Low Octane devil... I mean, table.

Any comments on this?

02's read anywhere from .900-.935 at wot...stock tuning no audible knock. I'll change my gas station cuz i do use shitty delta 93 gas maybe thats part of the problem...next fill up ill get some sunoco or texaco stuff hopefully that will fix all lol.

I agree with black ls1 that your KR is not that bad but if your like alot of us we put alot of time and $ into our cars. so why overlook somthing like this? But on the other hand if you cant hear any detonation, it could be another case of the infamous false knock. you could try a good top end engine cleaner alot of people have had good luck with them.
