Default Help ! no start on basic tune?

Hello all,

I'm new to tuning and have done extensive research. I think I'm on the right track with my basic tune but want to make sure. Attached the excel sheet I downloaded from here months ago and my basic tune. The injectors flow 64lbs @ 43.5psi and 671cc/min. So @ 58 they should flow 72ish ?

I think it's flooding the engine upon cranking. Reason why I think this is yesterday while trying to start it, it cranked and cranked. I then thought of disconnecting the fuel pump and trying. BOOM, It ran for a couple of seconds..

This evening, I cranked it over again, Same thing. After disconnecting the fuel pump, I cranked it again without the fuel pump enabled and it shot a heck of a flame out the end of the Y pipe and a nice load backfire..

Before the backfire and trying to start it without the fuel pump enabled, I took a sparkplug out and it really did not seemed fouled with gas ??

I took a peak at some of the readings in the VCM scanner and seen TPS, IAT, Inj pulsewidth (with just Ign. ON)

Would someone check it out and let me know what's wrong ?

BTW, 455ci with LS7 topend and 1 7/8 headers. Magnaflow MP4302 fuel pump with regulator set @ 58psi.

In this post is the excel file that I used to calculate the Inj IFR and etc..

Thanks for any help. :banghead:

Can you post the actual values you calculated? I don't have access to that forum. I would be very careful about dumping to much fuel in a new engine with fear of washing out the cylinder walls. You said you checked the plugs, how about the oil? It may be contaminated.

Default IFR values enteres

These are the values I entered into the IFR table. These were calculated with an excel file I grabbed off of Hptuners. I tried attaching it but it came up invalid.

73.9020773 74.36265746 74.82040244 75.27536394 75.72759215 76.17713573 76.62404194 77.06835667 77.51012447 77.94938865 78.3861913 78.82057334 79.25257458 79.68223374 80.1095885 80.53467554 80.9575306

Yes, the oil still smells new, which I am keeping a close eye on...

Thanks for any advice.

i learnt this from Bob @ The Tuning School. For new injectors, calculate the difference in flow between the new and old injectors and the same flow rate and add that number. For instance when upgrading from 28 to 36 , you would add +8 to all values across the table. Hope this helps.

Default Runs = Squrit of gas in TB!

Hey All,

In thinking about this all day at work, I decided to grab a squrit bottle of Gas and toss a couple of squrits couple in the TB when I arrived home. VAROOM ! It runs with the Squrit bottle !

So it's definitly in my calibration for the Injectors.

Any Ideas?

Thanks,

What value is you injector flow rate at? Mine is in grams per second. My values are way lower than that. Of course I have smaller injectors, but curious what value the table is in?

Default She's running !

Hello All,

In editing my IFR tables a little, I was able to get it started and ran till she got to operating temp. Now I can retorque the head gaskets and install the eng. !!!

I think I'll have to play with the Idle control cause above Idle, it ran pretty good sitting on the concrete floor under the car !

Thanx
David
