hohl, thanks for the info. The only reason I want to build my own cable, is because I need one now. All I really need to know is what the pin out of the DIN connector is; I can build a cable and interface after I have that information. I did need to know the format of the input also; helps to know it is a 0 to 5 volt A/D input. I assumed it would be a logic level TTL input for a tach function expecting a pulse train; I see now that assumption was incorrect. So can you give the pin out of the connector? I could probably reverse engineer it, but I'm low on time at the moment.

Your assumptions are correct. Klaus' example was a generic one for instances of an analog signal being available. The way I see it, for our cars (splicing the tach on the PCM), it is going to take a F/V converter to get a signal the LM-1 can use.

When I talked to them on the phone, they led me to believe that the signal can be tapped right from the rpm signal cable where I have tapped for my shift light. What is a F/V converter?

F/V would be a frequency voltage converter. The tach signal wire will show a constant 4.53 volts since it works off of frequency. Since the LM-1 records voltage it will always sample a value of 4.53 volts and your RPM will appear to be constant.
According to autometer's Web site there is a wire in the guage cluster that has the frequency converted into a voltage they can use to drive their tachs. They also say the color and location vary by year but it sounds like you already found it since you installed your shift light. My guess would be that you will be able to use that same signal.

BTW, just got my Innovate unit hooked up tonight, and it works great! The included software to display the data is quite nice also. I welded the bung in about the middle of the Y-pipe after the cats. It reads pretty much 14.7 all the time at part throttle, so I think the "after cats" location is accurate.

From a Yahoo! Groups LM-1 Mailing List:
They were up for a while on Sunday but it seems they are still having some problems. I spoke with Cort, my contact there, on Friday and he said the same thing. I think they were a little unprepared for the rush their wideband has experienced.

The manufacturer is still waiting on some people to phone in their payment details. Please call the number previously provided by email to give Innovate your information. Witout payment we may not be guaranteed the full discount. Prompt payyment will allow Innovate ship our units sooner and let us dial in our tuning faster.

For some reason I didnt get the email. I can certainly call Innovative's main #.... and provide payment details. But I did get the first email after I sent you my name.
Perhaps others have not gotten this second email.
