Need help asap

hey im leonard and im new..i just got a 89 firebird i bypassed the starter wire so it turns over.. some on sorta broke the steering collum so i can get to the rod to turn all the power on and etc.. but it wont start cause that vat chip thing.. how do u bypass it or with the vin cant i get the code. no dealer ship will help they want me to bring it in .. well im out of town and cant do that .. Theres no way to bypass that thing, its there to keep people from stealing the car. You need to take it to a dealership.

yeah a dealership can pull the vats code from the vin

dumb dealership

i called dealership and they said they can cut the key from vin but cant get the vat code.. could i get the ohmes reading or just go buy 15 different resitors from radio shack and try each on till i get it right theres only 12-15 and that would be hella cheep? thanks leonard
