Yeah there different order a set of headers from summit racing there like 90 bucks for summit brand painted headers.
When I had my '79 which I regret selling to this day I had a 400 in it out of a '68 GTO with a few mods lol....but I ran those headers straight into glass packs (cherry bombs) and that was it.

All pontiac blocks from 326-455 are the same the just changed the bore and stroke, the 455 has a long storke which makes it very torquey but the obviousy choise is a 455 if you can find one but both make great power with a good set of heads 6X's and 4x's are not good heads the flow well but have huge combustion chambers.
As for installing there direct fitment if the block is a 1970 and up a 1969 block and earlier will need special motor mounts because the block is drilled in different spots for them.

The problem is going to come in with the exhaust configuration and the shaker install. The mounts, ps lines, and fuel lines should be useable.

I don't think the install as easy as you think. It really depends on the transmission. I think the 301T came with a POS metric transmission. If it has a th350 then it should be a no brainer.

WS6= 4Whee disc, Quick steer box, 1 1/4" sway bar, Higher spring rates, 8" wide wheels. The 301 was dependable and strong because it made absolutely embarrassing HP. You couldn't break anything if you had to, the sickening power probably saved my life when I was a dumbass teenager. $2500.00? I hope nobody looking at this knows where that car is.
Better hop to it.

Like I said for the exhaust just throw some headers on it.

Putting headers on a turbo Trans Am would be tricky, and most likely, pointless. The way the factory set up works is....the drivers side exhaust manifold connects to the passenger side with a cross over pipe. The passenger side manifold has a port on top, where the exhaust (from both sides) goes above the engine and into the turbo, it then leaves the turbo, and is routed under the car, and through the exhaust system.
If you absolutely can't live with the turbo 301, I'd recommend yanking the motor, and putting in a 400 or 455. Finding intact turbo TA's is getting harder and harder...I'd think twice about changing the motor. But...I'm a stock kind of guy.

I had an 80 with a NA 301 and raN IT AWHILE. The rear main seral went so when I pulled it, I dropped in a mild built '68 400. It was night and day, I loved taht motor. I now have a 70 Formula with a stock 325 hp 400. They're great motors.
The turbo won't bolt up stock, the intake is completely different. Don't even bother trying to use those turbo parts on something else. If it was me, I'd get another T/A that isn't as collectable and put a 400 or 455 in it. Everything on the front of the motor will bolt up. I used al my brackets, timing chain cover, water pump ect on the 400.

I had heard the 301's sucked. But I like the idea of a 8.75 to 1 455 or bigger poncho with twin turbos. It would be a awesome sleeper then. You could call it the P bomb
