My buddy just bought a 99 Formula, its a 99 red t top car, but it says firebird on the back where the tail lights are, i have just seen pix and cant make out if it says formula or firebird on the sides.
i thought formulas say Formula not Firebird?

Formula's say formula on the side and firebird on the back. I own one.

some people put " firehawk" on the side of their cars but they aren't real firehawks... i know, i own a real firehawk .. the vin number, an RPO code and/or popping the hood will tell the tail

Yeah, what he said... The difference will be obvious, both in looking under the hood, and in stomping on the gas pedal...

you can't judge whether it;s a Firebird or Formula just from the tail light center filler panel because it should say Firebird even if the car is a Formula. Like others said it's not difficult to tell the difference between the V6 & LS1 engine. Third Formula's will have a W66 (Formula Package) RPO on the RPO code list on the drivers door.
