Seafoamed it and took it for a small cruise. Haven't been driving it much, stopped putting miles on it and am driving my S-10 instead. Even with 3:73 rear gears, the damn truck is so slow... V8 swap in the future for that one.

yesterday i went in for a check on my AC system and ended up spending $1187 on general repairs

the compressor had started spewing R134 all over and i had added some not knowing this which made the AC work again but it was losing pressure pretty quick again. It kind of sucks because i had the AC system overhauled in 2006.

so because the R134 sprayed all over the belt, it needed replaced, i had them do that, and they noticed i had a tensioner going bad so i got that changed, they didn't charge me labor on the belt or the tensioner since the belt had to come off for the AC anyway and it didn't take them long to change the pulley, they also noticed my master cylinder was leaking pretty bad so i had them change that too, and since i think its been a few years since my last fuel filter change i had them change that too.

so for $1187 i got

new AC system (again, although this time they didn't need to change the condenser in front of the radiator)
new master cylinder
new fuel filter
new belt and tensioner.

the parts were ~ $800 and the labor was the rest of it.

i got a lot of compliments from a few of the guys at the shop on my car. they were looking underneath it and were shocked when they saw the mileage. they said you just don't see clean LT1 cars anymore. one of the guys actually had a 95 formula back in the day.

^ Could have saved a LOT by doing all that stuff yourself. I'd just recommend having a shop evacuate the R134 but other than that, just a little wrench turning and time. It's nice to have things fixed and working right in any case tho!

Only $300 or so was labor. I really suck at doing car stuff. i'm not very mechanically inclined.

Replaced the plugs and wires on the V6. Idles smooth like it's brand new now! I just meant to pull the plugs to inspect and clean em but two of the wires were broke in the process. So if I'm replacing wires, might as well do the plugs! 160k+ miles and I just now swapped out the factory plugs and wires. If that's not a testament to the durability of our cars, iDK what is! Oh, and none of the old plugs was fouled even! No black carbon build up, just a little white.

Last time I drove the TA was July 31st. On August 5th, I washed and waxed the TA and put it back under the cover in the garage.

Hasn't been out since July 31st....

I only have 6 weeks left with the car before I put her away for winter...

95blackta,teach your self man, the only reason i say this is because mods cost alot of money, then add the cost of labor on top of that ,adds up to about twice the amount. and honest most of the stuff you can learn on tech an its pretty easy to follow, just remember to take your time and double check things. trust me im pretty retarded when it comes to cars ,but information, lots of questions, and over the past 2 years of having my car i have taught myself alot.

just think , i know you could have gotten those parts cheaper, most shops tax on parts , and do labor cheaper ,makes it seem like there helping you out. at least thats how it is around here, save 150 on parts,300 on labor ,that is 450 ,more in your pocket

^ What he said. And getting a Haynes Manual will help for the more complex things. Thinking about it: Imagine the THOUSANDS or even TENS of thousands of dollars I've saved by doing my own work!
