Default Pop Up headlight clicking

Whenever i lower my lights, the drivers side wil close, but after it closes, it clicks/grinds. Why would it do this? if its closed why would it continue to make noises? i pulled the fuse so its down and fine for now, but wtf do i do?

The cause is one of two issues - either the nylon gear has been stripped by the metal worn gear (hence MM84's statement "Probably most likely need a new gear") - or - and I found this out while servicing my driver's side motor one month after replacing the gear - the four metal tabs which hold the gear portion of the ***'y to the motor are bent away / loose, and this 'slop' allows a new good gear to get torn up.

IMHO - After removing the ***'y, try to wiggle the plastic and metal 'halves' - if they are loose, put the unit in a vice and tighten / bent the metal tabs that secure the two halves together (via punch and hammer), then re-install the motor. Using the manual-rotation dial on the front, rotate the gear 180 degrees and then re-attach the arm. If the grinding stops, then you just extended the life of your nylon gear by 100%.

If that doesn't work, then use idformula's headlight link - good luck!
