Whats wrong with Formulas?
I've seen a bunch of firebird formulas around. I was just wondering what the differences between Formulas and T/As are because they seem to be way cheaper. All I can see is the appearance package differences.

As far as the 98-02 Formulas go, as you stated the appearance package with front bumper, ground efx and high rise spoiler are the main thing. Moving inside the TA has leather seats and power seats and T-tops standard. Most Formulas will have a cloth interior and manual adjust seats and is offered in a hardtop. Not like that's a biggie, at least to me, but some people price stamp the "luxury" of leather/power seats. I could do without them. But I can't do with my t-tops. Love them in the summer.

Having owned a '96 Formula before my '01 T/A all I can say is that I miss the cloth seats. Leather is overrated in my book. The only reason I sold my Formula was the need for a convertible way back when, otherwise I would still own it. Yeah, the LS1 is quite nice too but Formulas are every bit an equal in my book. A Formula convertible would have been best for me if I could do it all over again.

Nothing wrong with a Formula !!
A Formula is essentially a Trans Am in the base Firebird Shell.
It has all the exact same running gear and available options that a T/A has.
The Trans Am adds Leather, T-tops and Keyless entry as standard equipment over a base Formula, everything else is the same.
Depends how the Formula is optioned, A hardtop Formula will be close to 100 lbs lighter then a Trans Am. But a well optioned Formula (Leather T-tops etc.) will be a lot closer in weight.

Same here! Cloth>>>>>>>GM's leather! I don't know numbers, but when I was looking at cars that was usually the only difference from the Trans Ams to the Formulas(aside from looks). Every Formula I found had t-tops, cloth seats with power, and keyless.

IMO, i think the trans am looks alot better. I dont like the formula bumper, and with out the high rise wing, i think the *** end looks "stubby" Kinda how the bullit mustangs look without their "wing" but thats just me. I like the leather in my car, since my T/A is red, it came with the 'black' leather instead of that ugly gray ****. but like everyone else said....options....only difference. i guess u could say the formula is a little faster because of the weight difference..lol
