Well, wikipedia supports my claim. But, after checking Motor Trend's stats, the LT1 was heavier. So I'll take that back

You are high!
Obviously I haven't done any research on it, and I never really thought about doing it until it was mentioned on here. I'm sure once I looked into it more I would of realized the truth. Please forgive my ignorance.

Thanks for this. It would cost a chunk to deliver it though or 16 hours one way to get it.

I'd do it, the LS1 offers better performance for your money, but either one would make a pretty nice car. Plus, you can build both of these motors to be pretty killer. It all boils down to preference at the end of the day with these cars in my opinion. They have reached a point where both have become so cheap and easy/inexpensive to mod you can't really lose with either one. That's just how I see it though, LS1's are always better don't get me wrong, but the LT1's are nice too.

An LT1 WS6 T/A is the best looking 4th gen imo. they just look awesome. i might be biased though

(FWIW mine isn't a real WS6 but the hood is an oem)

I actually looked at that car back in may or june because someone saw my car and mentioned they had a relative with one for sale. while it is a real WS6, it basically needs a full resto. those pics don't really show what the car has wrong with it like some rust and a torn up interior and the fact it needs a paintjob. here's a few better pics of it. I suppose it wouldn't be a bad fixer upper, but it's not in as good of shape as those photos on CL make it appear to be.

Ive driven a ton of different LS and LT cars...stock v stock, you really cant tell much of a difference behind the wheel, and both motors do completely different things.

It all really depends on what goals you have OP. If it's just a car to drive, I say go for it.

I agree with you. I had a 95, and it was nice but the 98-02's WS6 looks better. But you put a WS6 hood on the 93-97, I lean more to liking those and espcially in black.

And I love the way people take pics of their rides in the perfect spot and never make reference to what kind of shape it is actually in. I have went through that in the past week on a TA and a Camaro. It was funny, b/c the camaro was the finest I had seen around here in a looong time. I called and for 3500 I thought it was a steal. It's an LS1 car M6. I got him to send me some pics and the paint is bubbling up on top, a limb fell on one side and dented it, and there were a couple other real bad places. He made the pic look like the car was in perfect shape.

IIRC it also needed a battery, a headlight motor, 2 window motors and some other little things, but the major stuff was the cosmetics. It might have needed an alternator too since the battery was dead and we jumped it and after it ran for ~ 20 mins, it died and wouldn't restart (although it was cranking so it probably wasn't the alternator). i thought about buying it and giving it a good detail and reselling it until i saw how bad the paint was (the whole front end needed repainted, plus the rust under the gas door)

it wasn't actually a florida car but a transplant from virginia so it was driven through the northern winters.
