The '01-'02 exhaust manifold are also improved. The cam used for those years, if I'm not mistaken, are similar to the cams from the 5.3....while not as good for high RPM power it did improve low end torque a bit (seriously, a MINOR difference)....basically it comes out in a wash.
Stock for stock, a car equipped with better flowing exhaust and intake with a similar cam to one that has a poorer flowing intake/exhaust should win. LS6 block or not. That being said, the 5 hp or so difference that might result in that shouldn't be enough to make a difference, you can more likely blame a loss on the fact that you had a traction issue, didn't pop the clutch properly, or had too much to eat for lunch. It's been said before, an LS1 is an LS1 is an LS1....the differences year to year are minor and insignificant when you're racing on the street where there are more things that can make a difference than the 5-10 hp difference between each car.....when you think about 350 bhp, a 10 hp difference is 2.8%, ain't a whole lot considering a poor launch can make a difference in a 0-60 time of 20-30%, or more (pulling that number out of my ***, but I'm sure it's true)

i agree with 99 FORMULAM6r...a ls1 is a ls1...some just are not treated as well through out there years...abuse doesn't help...and i also believe that putting ls6 intake on a '98-'00 with the larger cam would be the best of both worlds...in gm high tech performance mag. they tested a '99 Z28 they got a 12.896@109.18 showroom stock m6...there worst run of the day was a 13.009@108.61...car weight was 3,575 with driver...yet in an issue of road & track they tested a SS vs a Z28 and they said the SS was one 1 second quicker to 100mph then the regular Z28 was...
when i first went looking for a WS6 , i drove a 2001 t/a auto. not sure what gears it had, didn't seem very powerful, then i drove my WS6...there was a difference...not sure if it had anything to do with it being a WS6 though or not...both auto. but at about 40mph, i could break the back tires loose, n the regular t/a i couldn't...oh well go figure...

I just thought the WS6 may have had a little something extra under the hood (which is bad *** no doubt) vs a flat hood T/A. Guess not. Honestly I like the sleek look of my flat hood too. Performance wise, for a street car, it's pretty damn quick.

Suspensions the same....except for the front sway bar.
I am going to start a firestorm but having owned 19 2002s (6 LS6 blocked cars and 13 LS1 blocked) I can tell you for a FACT that a bone stock LS6 car is faster than a bone a bone stock LS1 car hands down. I dont care what anybody says you have indenticle stock 02s...two with LS1 blocks and one with a LS6 I would bet the title I can tell you which one it is from driving them. Like I said I know there will be doubters but I doubt anybody has had the experience with them I have had.
I am betting that if the OPs car ran a 13.00 stock its a LS6 blocked car. They are the factory freaks people talk about.

12.8 huh? Damn that mustbe nice,my best is only 13.9@100 buy then again I have a4 and 2.72s... and I think I have a fuel delivery issue too Idk :/.... oh and having 225 tires on the back doesn't help traction issues either lol
