Exclamation Need help on diagnosing a firebird!!!!

So this car (V6) has been giving me tons of issues. The first problem was what i believed to be an exhaust leak, there was a metal on metal knocking and it was revving higher than the RPM's showed, and the exhaust was obnoxious and the performance was bogging down terribly. I thought the exhaust gaskets had gone bad on either side where the engine connects to the Y pipe. Before I could even diagnose it I was attempting to drive it to the mechanics, and something ELSE went wrong. It sounded like something in the clutch system popped almost, and then the gears wouldn't change right and I felt a tapping in my foot from the clutch that matched with the RPM's, and then whatever it was popped back (so to speak) and I could use it again. When I let off the gas to stop it died automatically and then the battery wouldn't give enough power to turn it over. Someone behind me said there was white smoke. The alternator and battery are new, tranny is new(er), engine had a rebuild 10K miles ago, so i hope its nothing in those. The car itself has 226K, and i'm pretty sure the clutch is the original so I wouldn't be surprised if that's it. Any ideas on the first or second issue? Any help is appreciated, thank you!!!!!

By your description, there's way too many things going on here.

Get it to the mechanic and see what they say.
