Brake light issue It's weird
I have a 99 TA that I am having issues with the brake lights. If I use the right blinker the left brake lights do not work. After the right blinker is turned off the left brake lights still will not work. The only way I can get the left brake light to work is if I turn the left blinker on for a few seconds turn it off and then the brake lights will work. Also if I turn the flasher on for a few seconds the brake light will work again. I checked all the bulbs, fuses and flashers. I changed all the wire connectors in the tail light assembly. I am out of ideas. And I have searched google and LS1 for the last few hours and have come up with nothing.

In the same boat, although I see threads that indicate that bulbs/sockets in the turn signals up front can cause it. You said you "checked" the bulb, but did you replace and/or inspect the socket carefully?

I'm actually leaning that way... because when I put my left turn signal on sometimes my radio power cycles and other times my cruise control disengages... what led you to the switch being shorted?

It was by accident, I replaced all the build sockets, bulbs and a bunch of other things. But one day why trying to come up with a solution my knee hit the blinker switch and the brake light worked. I put the blinker on and the brake lit quite working. There was a sweet spot in the switch if you could find it the lights would work. I replaced it and haven't had another issue.

I think I'm going to do the same. I replaced the front drivers signal, and the flasher started working on that side, but then failed again as soon as I drove again. It seems if I barely apply the signal, it will work fine, but if I turn the switch all the way to where it is supposed to be it shorts...
