Default 4" dual exhaust on 98' WS6

Newbie to this forum thought I'd share pix of a customers 98' T/A I've been working on. Gotta stroked LS2 402c.i. w/ L92 rec port heads (cnc'd by West Coast Racing) Currently puts out 545RWHP. Plan on twin turboing it around the beginning of the year. Just finished installing some serious suspension upgrades and customer wanted to upgrade to dual exhaust. Never seen this done on another Fbody of this year. For the power level he's looking at dictated 4" and he didn't want to build the exhaust twice so he told me to go ahead & do it now with the anticipation that once the turbo setup is in place I can tie into what I've already done. Exhaust is all finished & thermo coated. I'll be adding pix thru out the week as my time permits. Hope y'all like my work!
Started with his Kooks 1&7/8" headers w/. 3" collectors. Had to transition up to 4" collector. I use these Vibrant V-band clamps on all my headers I build as opposed to the tradition 3-4 bolt flange and gasket setup. They cost alittle more but they have a positive leak proof seal and no gaskets to ever worry about blowing out and 1 bolt to undue to disconnect. From there it transitions from 4" s.s round to oval. Oval tubing is 2&1/2" tall by 4&7/8" wide.

Still tryingto figure out how to upload my pix - bear with me. I guess the file size is too large. Anyone know how to reduce the size so I can upload them?

Thanks Ramaire but this isn't an off the shelf setup. I've fabricated this setup and I've yet to see it done on another F body - thats not too say it hasn't been done yet, just stating that me personally haven't seen it done before. It is dual 4"! Because of the radious of the pipe being so large I wasn't able to do an X-pipe like I'd prefer as well as space confinement with the Moser M9 rearend & tubular torque arm I had to make due with a crossover pipe or H-pipe as a balance tube.
I fabbed this using oval tubing as well as custom one off mufflers built by Spintech. Tubing is 2&1/2" X 4&7/8" I had to cut out the rear floorpans & section the inner frame rails in order to tuck the mufflers up for ground clearance. The inlet & outlet are on the front side of the mufflers and the tailpipes exit to the side infront of the rear tires (per customers request.) Also because at the time space was limited on going over the rearend, fueltank. I've switched over to a new custom fuel tank from Nasty Perf. (thats a whole nother story - fits terrible!)
I'm still trying to figure out how to post pix of everything. I may have to go with photobucket (forgot my password)

Spintech after I gave them my demensions wanted an extra inch on the width of their muffler to accomodate the horsepower level (1000+) he plans on running so I had to section the inner subframe.

New floorpans done! Ha - jk. Here's a trick on making templates (just transfer over to your metal.)

Customer doesn't plan on running a backseat cushin although the foam at the bottom of the seat can be trimmed and go back in place to cover - just won't be too comfy to sit on.

Seamed sealed up!

Why do so many people think exhaust has to be a circle? Looking forward to seeing it finished.

Work looks good, I like the oval. What turbos is he planning on going with? Dual 4" is huge and is probably overkill for anything less than 80s

Spintech offers these "verticle" bends. I could have made them myself but for the cost my time is more valuable. I need to make an S bend where they enter/exit the mufflers.[IMG][/IMG]
*note the corner of the muffler Spintech missed the weld

Didn't like the ledge inside the collar so I had to grind them all out.

Originally the mufflers were to be traditional rectangle shape but due to the torque arm being in the way - had to reshape the muffler. Pass side was fine but I had them make them both the same shape.

Like my shims!

Your right Brent - exhaust doesn't care if its going thru a round, square, triangle, oval shape. Volume is volume - velocity is velocity!

Thank you Atomic! Not sure on what size turbos we're going with as I'm not there yet. We're getting the rest of the car prepared first (suspension wise.) I'll have to discuss that with the engine builder - Kris Nelson of Nelson Competition. Customer wants minimum of 1000-1,100 rwhp. I'm figuring 1,300-1,400 @ motor.

Car already has subframe connectors welded in but I went ahead and fabbed 1/4" plate to help tie the rear subfram, lower trailing arm box & sub frame conn all together.

Had to notch the subframe conn where the exhaust tip will exit & replate in.

Photobucket is giving me helluva fit right now on trying to upload more pix - keeps locking up on me. The intire exhaust is completed & coated with a thermocoating (supposedly good to 2,200*F) from ProCoat in Tampa. Just trying to show y'all that 4" exhaust is doable on these cars with some work. I know some of you are already questioning why 4" - that it's overkill. For the HP level were going for thats what the math and recommendation of Spintech suggested. Also they were able to squash the 4" pipe down to same height as what 3.5" whould be - just alittle wider. Dual 3.5" is good to support roughly 900hp.

Was able to upload a few more. Instead of going on & on - here's the completed coated exhaust.

That is a crazy step up. A lot of work went into that. Have to upload a sound clip soon.
