Default NEED ADVICE FAST - 1996 Formula WS6 Hardtop

Hey guys,

It has been a while since I posted but I have been looking for a while for another car to get into. I have owned 3 trans ams (97 Trans Am auto, 01 WS6 M6, and a 98 Trans Am M6). I have had fun with them and sold them all. Now I am looking to get something to keep for a while and have some fun. I would not have any major plans for the car outside of bolt-ons.

I found a car for sale locally - first off its an LT1 (I know, opti bla bla bla)

But the positives:

Its a mint 1996 Black ws6 FORMULA
Cloth Interior
Hard Top
Roll-up windows
42k miles
6 speed
Borla exhaust
2 owner, clean carfax

The price is 7k. I have never had a formula before, plus its a genuine WS6. What folks opinion? Should I steer away from an LT1 and wait for the right LS1. I like the look of the formula WS6.

I almost have my wife convinced, but its myself that needs more convincing.

Thanks in advance,
Dan

That seems like a good price, the formula's in hardtop form are the rarest in ws6 form especially the lt1's atleast I think, if its clean and your looking for something quick and nice I would jump on it, its a rare car!!!

I was thinking the same. You can punch the vin into compnine.com and it will tell you how many were made like it.

Good price. I would jump all over that car if it is in really decent condition. I owned a 1996 Formula for 9 years (bought it new in July '96 in FL) (see pics below) and it rarely gave me any problems. There was one recall if I can remember correctly and it should be documented as being done. My window motors were a bit of an issue (slow) as were the typical headlight gears. Other than that, a sweet car with NO serious issues. You have tons and tons of driving fun ahead of you with that low mileage car. Just make sure there are no problems and if you do get it, get all those fluids changed if there isn't a recent maintenance history.
Great find! Best of luck!

Sorry, you can't wait too long on those type cars. Good try!
