Lq4 Swap in 96 firebird
I am needing help about a swap I am considering doing, a Lq4 has come up for sale in my area for a great price here is the info on the engine:
a complete lq4 engine from a 50k '05' 2500hd silverado
Trickflow camshaft 112 lsa 220/224 dur. .575 lift
comp timing chain
new ls7 lifters
arp rod bolts
ls6 oil pump
has the better rods (mid 04+) and coated pistons
I was planning on swapping a lt1 into my 96 V6 auto firebird until I saw this, what would it all take to swap in there.

cool, sounds like a fun swap! either engine would serve you well.
The LT1 would likely be the simpler swap in this case as the LQ4 would need some other parts to make it work in your car. Example being oil pan/ pick up/ windage tray, crank pulley and accessory drive and intake manifold. The truck parts aren't designed to fit in your car. Yes, all that is a bolt on fix, but you have to consider the cost of those parts in your swap.
spend some time searching in the "conversions and hybrids" sections. you'll find all you need to know about swapping the engine in, wiring, fuel supply, etc.
