Default Question about acceleration & oxygen sensors

Its been awhile since I've been on but I still have my 2000 Trans Am. She's got 78,000 miles on her and in the past month or so she has been accelerating funny at times. If I get on it quick it shifts fine and if I drive really easy it shifts fine. Anything in-between makes it act like it doesn't know when to shift. Whenever I accelerate fast and get over 80 mph the check engine light comes on. It will stay on for a day or less and then it goes off by itself. The codes that come on are for the oxygen sensor. Are these two things in any way linked? Do I need to replace the oxygen sensors or can I just clean them? Suggestions are appreciated!

I just bought a house so anything I can do to save a little money is helpful.. But this is my baby so we'll see.. Thanks guys!
