I had a 95 Formula that I want to say was MDPM, but a previous owner painted it matte black at some point and all that was left purple were the door jambs.

Indeed, you were comparing T/As to all Firebirds. Not sure where TechCam's #s came from, but they should total up to:

I never realized that was a factory color. I just recently purchased a trans am that had been painted the same color but has some crazy metal flake in the paint also. The paint job is old but I thought the color was completely custom.

* Don't get big ideas everyone else, I only have ASC#s for '98 WS6s other than the red/black cars. So unless you have a '98 WS6 in Silver, White, Gold, Purple or Navy Blue, I can't help you w/ finding your ASC# (sorry).

ive only seen 2. one was mine 95 Firebird formula with a pontiac 400 swap, Medium Dark Purple. the other was a 96 ram air T/A also Medium dark purple

I have one of the 1998 Purple Trans-am Convertibles. Its my DD and at 160k miles its starting to collect some squeaks. Since having a wife & kids, I may need a bigger DD and hopefully the wife buys off on letting me make a SCCA/track day car out of it. I added a Ram Air hood to it, Strano springs/struts/shocks and have a tube K-member and strut braces ordered.

Ancient thread, but I have to admit that I don't think I've seen another picture of a '97 in BPM. Worthy post! No wonder, there were only 34 '97 T/A coupes built in BPM. Get that puppy out into the sun and let that metallic pop!
