Default stock bottom 5.3

So i am considering a 5.3 swap in my 99.
debating on nitrous or boost.
i figure nitrous would be cheaper and more reliable but i always love the sound and results of a boosted motor.
i was wondering how much a stock bottom 5.3L could handle?
150 shot? 15 lbs? i looked up some info around the net but it seems to jump around a bit.

A stock bottom end 5.3 will easily handle 150hp. I have personally sprayed 250hp on my heads cam 5.3 several times without any issues so i would say you could easily spray 200HP reliably.

Denmah can probably attest to the power limits of the stock bottom end of a 5.3. He has turbo'd several recently and made some beastly power with junkyard parts.

ive been youtubing, that turbo stock bottom camaro ran nearly 1000 hp with a turbo. only thing is im not handly with fabrication and i have longtubes so a supercharger or nitrous would be prefered.

There was an article I read where a stock bottom 4.8 handled over 1000 whp for over 60 dyno runs in a short period until the ignition gave up.

I woud go 150 shot 2 stage wet plate kit or a single 150 shot with a progressive controller. Consider a bigger fuel pump or Stand alone fuel cell, you may run a bit lean on the rear 2 cylinders even with tr6's. With that being said, as long as your suspension is able to handle it.

You could always sell the longtubes and pick up a set of truck manifolds. That is exactly what I did. Plus you should end up money ahead to use on more parts.
