Default Car alarm VATS

Any of you guys have your alarm go off for no apparent reason. Its to the point I either need to put a switch on the horns or sell the car. I need my sleep!

p.s. Is there a way to program the horns out of the VATS system?

There are definitely modes for your alarm system. The sensor in your trunk by the spare tire is ultra sensitive IMO. Make sure it hasn't been displaced. The owner's manual (2001 model year) has all the info, including 'disarming' on page 2-19. The pages run right through 2-27. A lot of info. Do you have an owner's manual?

i disconnected that small black box with red led. hope that takes care of the problem, i need my sleep. Is this a 99% fix for false alarms or can other items in the system cause it to trigger?

There's a small black box by the spare tire that let's you adjust the sensitivity of your alarm. You can also try that.
