New to me 02 Formula SOM. how rare? Just picked up and 02 Formula non firehawk in SOM. T-top six speed car with cloth interior. Been searching for the last few hours and can't find any solid numbers. How rare is this car? Anyone have any way to get the exact production number? Thanks.

I previously owned a 2002 SOM Formula. Mine was a M6, TCS, black leather, 3.42 rear car. It was rather highly optioned for a Formula, especially for a SOM Formula. Most SOM Formula's I have found have been cloth interior and no TCS. I cannot tell how many 6spd's or autos where produced, but you could expect a ratio similar to the other models in the line when compared to their respective counterpart, Formula, WS6, and Firehawk brethren.
I have previously researched and have reached the conclusion (whether it be right or wrong) that 901 Formula's were made in 2002. I was able to reach a total of 51 SOM Formula's being made in 2002. Of that 16 were sent to SLP for the Firehawk package and 1 is a GMMG Phase II 430hp Carl Black build. So that leaves a whopping......... 34 .......... 2002 SOM Formula's that seen the light of day. Again this is just an estimate, but I do believe it to be a very accurate representation of the total number made, if not the actual answer in reality.
With a WS6 hood, nice stance, and rims they really are beautiful vehicles, and the only reason I chose to sell mine is that they are becoming incredibly hard to restore as GM has just not responded to the restoration community of these vehicles. With new parts being discontinued every month I just couldn't justify owning the vehicle as my sole purpose was to bring it back to near new. Good luck and great find.
