It was cool that it did not turn into a flame war. BTW it almost had me wondering...

Nah, it was an informing debate.

People can call my Trans Am a firebird all they want. My dick is big enough I dont need to verify what it is to be a bigger man

I will say I have a Trans Am though if someone asks what kind of car I have. Most people know what that is, and it eliminates them asking me if I have a v8 or not.

Exactly, because they think of something different. See?

People are uninformed about many things, doesn't change what the facts are

Don't forget, there is one trans am model that is not a V8.

Trans Am is just a trim package .
Its a Formula with all the options .
My LT1 formula said " Formula/trans am " on the title as does my 99 TA.

Not around here . If you call the Loacl GM dealer's and ask them for trans am parts..You still have to answer these stupid questions...Even after you tell them wha it is.

Is that a V8 ? is that 5.7 ? does it have disk brakes ?its a manual ? isnt that a 5 speed ?..LOL
same dumb *** questions for my LT1Z28.
And this is from the GM dealers . Going to auto zone is even worse.

I concur with NateLS1... actually, my wife does. She said to me a few weeks ago (shortly after I got the Bird) that many guys that drive these prolly have small dicks. She said "Doesn't it feel good to know you have a fast car AND a big dick? So don't go around proving either."

I think there is more than that. The rear sheetmetal is shaped differently and the outer door skins are shaped differently. That is a lot more than a trim level, a bumper, and a spoiler or any other add on parts. In fact, it would be impossible to convert a camaro into a firebird or vice-versa.

How to Tell an SS/WS6/Firehawk is Real

SS = WU8 RPO Code
WS6 = WS6 (crafty huh) RPO Code
Firehawk = WU6 RPO Code

RPO code list can be found on the inside of the DRIVERS side door where it latches.

As everone else has also stated. Firebird was the platform, Trans Am was the trim specification.

I must be bored

I have thought about this again, and after pondering it, I've concluded that there are only two times that it really matters whether or not a car is a Firebird or TransAm:

The first being at the time of purchase, no one wants to think they are buying a WS6 TransAm, only to find out it was a firebird clone.

And secondlly when you go to sell your car, you absolutely must distinguish between the two (Firebird/TransAm).

I kinda get a sick thrill out of people thinking my car is a Firebird. The TA door emblems are removed as well as the rear filler plate lettering and it's got the regular hood.

I may even put some firebird lettering on it. I know, I'm sick in the head.

my car isnt even a trans am and everyone calls it one. It kinda pisses me off. There are no emblems on it at all. The only things im gonna put back on at the 5.0 HO stickers on the power bulge, and maybe some 5.0 badges on the lower fenders. Oh then ill have my 5.0 HO Dual snorkel air cleaner under the hood. I watn everyone to think its a 305 lol.
