Posting this in case anyone else ever runs across this issue. My Ram Air hood underside had mirrors on it at one point. Silicone was used to "glue" them on. This stuff is a nightmare to remove. Heres what I started out with.
Did a lot of research and ordinary over the counter stuff was not removing it. I got off as much as possible with a razor blade, but a sticky residue remained. Found an industrial product called Dicone NC9 that is safe on fiberglass. Basically it "digests" the silicone. After using the product, no more silicone, but the paint flaked off in a few spots.
Took it to my painter, I reduced his prep time by a lot, by getting that stuff off myself. End result. I am much happier now that my hood underside matches my car!
