You need a Barney stuffed animal in the trunk with graphics for the rear quarter panel: AKA, the Road Runner. Maybe a different horn, too.

Its funny you say that TED...when the car was at the first builder and nothing was getting done...I put a Barney doll on the hood with a note that said "For the love of God FINISH ME!" He didnt think it was that funny...I sure did!

A little update. Did some work on the interior. Got the headliner, glove box, trunk release panel and other int panels and the seats put in. Finally bought door panels so i will be putting those in this weekend. Still need to wire in the 3rd brake light before we put the rest of the hatch panels in.

I put the door panels in and cleaned up some wiring. Just need a couple small interior pieces and get the trunk carpet put in and she'll be ready for the dyno!

So not a whole lot more done to Barney. Havent gotten it to the dyno yet but we did get to drive it and do some tuning. Its tuned up to about 6k but we know the mototr will have no problem spinning over 7k. Maybe even 7500. There were a couple little issues like a valve cover oil leak, programming the speedo, fixing fuel gauge, changing oil, changing spark plugs and it needs an anit-roll bar in the rear...bad. But the little its been driven...its definitely a blast! I will update when we get it to the dyno. Can't wait to see what kind of #s it has.

Nice build...what kinda HP you expecting? I think I have you beat for a Barney color match though

Thanks guys! ahritchie yes that is definitely the Barney color!! The car got labeled Barney after I helped pick out the paint color and it has a slight purple hue...everyone said go black but I thought it would be cool to have something different since the car is so different. Not a whole happening lately tho. Have been in the fields. But its been driven a little bit. Had a rear anti-roll bar installed and the front sway bar. Handles much nicer now. It needs to go back to the dyno to finish the tune. The top end needs some work. It kind of falls on its face in high rpms. But once the tune is finished we are expecting around 500 to the wheels at or around 7200rpm. Nothing crazy but def a hand full with a clutch Can't wait to take it to the track!

Unfortunately not my friend. I delivered the car to the owner fall 2016 and haven't seen it since. He claims he drove it a couple times last summer but I don't believe him. I know where its stored and told him I was going to confiscate it this winter to finish the tune, fix the brakes and put aftermarket clutch hydraulics in. And we even talked about procharging the biotch. The motor is built to handle a 300 shot but I'd feel much more comfortable with boost. On low PSI it could make 700-800 easy on corn. So we'll see. Never had time to go to the track...wish I had better news/updates. I've been trying to buy the car too but he won't sell it. I will update if anything changes. Thanks for following!

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE!!!!

A lot has happened since I posted last...you know....like 4 years LOL But I have some fun and interesting updates on Barney the purple Firebird.

So the car practically sat for 2 years and never got drove. It was sitting and being neglected so I wanted to do something about it. I still tried buying the car but the owner wasn't ready so I made him a proposal...let rebuild Barney into a bracket car so it gets used. My family has a long history of bracket racing and I've always wanted to get in a car so I told him we should go bracket racing with Barney. And after a few meetings and going over numbers we agreed and the build was on! The car was going back to Folk Race Cars in Durand, IL...where they specialize in these sort of builds. So long Barney the street car and hello Barney the Bracket Firebird! This was the last time he was seen as a street car hehe

First things first...the 6 speed had to be removed along with the exhaust. I know this is sad....I'm a 3rd peddle kind of guy but for the sake of consistency she had to go. This part was pretty easy...holding onto all the parts for a possible C10 LS NA build.

Once the car got to Folk Race Cars the build was on! Here are some shots of the progress at the time. Since Barney already had a lot of race parts the build was pretty simple. Install fuel cell and fab the cover, install delay box with shifter and shiftnoid, Kirkeys, dial boards, the list goes on!

Once the car was done I had it tuned on a hub dyno specifically for 1/8 mile bracket racing. I know there is a lot I'm skipping but the good stuff is once it's at the track. We disconnected the trans brake and made 2-step full pulls until we maximized power. The old LT1 stroker made 490 rwhp thru the glide, loose converter and 12 bolt. Which from what I've been told could be close to 600 crank hp. It didn't really matter I just need it to be consistent!
