My girlfriend has her eye on a 94 Formula I found on Craigslist. Its the burnt orange (sunburst?) color which happens to be her favorite. LoL. Problem is, I don't know anything about the LT1 motors. I've always heard they were junk, basically. This is a one-owner, completely stock and unmolested car that is very clean but has 244,xxx miles on it. She is wanting to get into a bird on the cheap and this one is 3k so the price is right. What are yall's opinion? Thanks.

lt1 motors are far from junk if you can find a clean one. Just like any other 20 year old car, its pretty tough to find one tho. If its ben maintained and truly unmolested, then it might be a good deal. Try to look around your local classifieds and compare whats out there.

I daily drove my LT1 1994 Camaro Z-28 for 5 years, from 129,000 miles up until I sold it at 181,000 miles. The engine was still good, but I was starting to get rust bubbles by the gas cap. I had to get several oil leaks fixed, but otherwise it was a good engine. It just depends on the maintenence and how it was driven.
I'm pretty sure that wasn't a factory color in 1994, but the car does look nice.

Picts look very good for 244k but that's still a lot of miles. You might want to find out info about engine rebuild and transmission rebuild or replacement... if it has even had that done. either way you should be able to get it cheaper than 3k as well.

Thanks for all the opinions. She just came across a black 99 Trans Am for 3500 so that's an option too. I would rather her go that route due to the LS1 plus its an M6 car. I haven't actually looked at either one yet. I'll keep y'all posted on what she gets.
