Rare 1993 Trans Am? Grey purple metallic
So I was looking for a Trans Am that was the same color as mine so I could see about some replacement mirrors due to mine having a bit of sun damage when I stumbled upon a guy selling a car that looked like mine in California. The description said it was a rare paint color so I started researching it. Turns out there are only 157 Pontiac Trans Ams that are painted grey purple metallic and I just so happen to have one that is fully loaded, speced with ttops and all the special upgrades. I'm assuming that makes it a pretty rare car? Anyone have any information on this color? Can't find much

To find any decent 24 year old car is getting 'rare' these days and to own an unusual color is even better. I looked up some Google images and there are not many examples posted. I personally like that gray-purple color as it appears to be a combo color (like blue-green chameleon) that is subtle. I saw a paint code for it: GM WA9926 but I'm sure you saw the same thing in your search. How many miles on yours? Can you post a few photos for us?

Here are a few photos (Cars wet cause it was covered in the flowers that fall off the trees so I gave it a rinse)
Two of the codes in the clove box came up as exterior colors, I think the paint might be a mix of the two. One is gray amethyst, and the other is purple pearl. Pretty neat. The car is in amazing condition as well, has 140,000 miles on it, not a spec of rust, and it's completely stock and unmolested.

I always liked that color but never saw it on a Pontiac. There were a handul of z28's that color in my area. I nearly bought one but the clear was pealing and the price was high for the condition.
I would love to see some pics as well.
My first car was a 93 Camaro v6 that was green grey metallic. If I ever come across one I might buy it loved that color also

I seem to remember this color being called Purple Pearl Metallic on the Camaros, it was '93/'94 only. There was a local guy who owned two of them, both Z28s, and sold his '94 to someone who then sold it to a friend of mine. So I see it semi-regularly at the local events. Nice color for sure.

That was a pretty common color in the early 4th gen days. I used to see them all the time and never really liked it. But today, especially on a Trans Am - it's got to be rare.
Another rarity these days is those turbine wheels. Most everybody got rid of them ASAP. Each of the 94 Formulas I owned had them.

WA U9926 was apparently known as purple on the Chevy Camaro and Grey Purple on the Pontiac Firebirds. This is what I found, Thought I would share.

My first thought was that there was no way this was a factory color. I guess I'm wrong. I remember seeing tons of these cars when they were new. The DFW area was a pretty big market for F-bodies and I've never seen that color on either a Camaro or a Firebird.
I am not, and never was a fan of those Banshee wheels. However, I can appreciate the fact that the car is all original.

Rare indeed
My understanding is they're very rare, especially since they're not made any more. Of the list you provided, I believe there is only 33 that are still running. After 93 Pontiac switched to a royal purple color. The grey purple pearl is amazing. Looks grey in the garage, black at night, and with any kind of light..... Purple. I'll try to attach a pic of mine also. It has 101,000 on it. I still have original rims and tires, just not on the car. I think mines pretty rare because it has Ram Air, which I think they came out with in 94.

- Total 788 were built in '93: 347 Firebirds, 284 Formulas, 157 T/As
- Total 1451 were built in '94: 953 Firebirds (one of these was a 'vert), 258 Formulas (1 of these was a 'vert), 239 T/As (119 coupes, 120 'verts)
In '95, the only purple color was 05U Med. Dk. Purple Metallic
While there was a WS6 option in '93, it was only a "suspension package" and did NOT include "Ram Air" The WS6 "Ram Air" performance package was not an option on Firebirds until '96. The hood on your car is aftermarket and does not make it any more "rare".

Yep. And that's not even the correct "Ram Air" hood style for the '96-97 4th gens. That's an aftermarket hood based on the later '98+ style of Ram Air hood.
