Here are some more pictures of everything mocked up for the engine. Im working on building a custom radiator support now for the C&R NASCAR radiator and carbon duct.

Awesome build! My first car was a 68 Firebird 400 4 speed that has 40,000 miles on it and I got it for $450.00. You don't see too many around anymore. Bob

i have a lot of chassis work to do and body work, I’m doing every aspect of this build myself so it’s taking a while. Long term goal is 2020

This past weekend I made a trip out to NY to visit my engine builder and to drop off a lot of parts for him. My block is almost ready for assembly, just needs a final hone and a dip in the tank to wash it out completely and then its time to install the Callie's 408ci stroker kit. I forgot how nice the Stage 2.5 243's I had Texas Speed & Performance do for me came out!

Another side project I'm working on for the Firebird is the steering column. I know that doesn't sound overly exciting or complicated but I wanted to have power assisted steering without all the fuss of hydraulics (lines, pump, reservoir) Introducing The Vauxhaull Corsa C electronic power steering column and spares I picked up over the weekend. This column has been used in motorsports for a while on kit cars and rally cars alike. The nice part about it is you can variably adjust resistance of a **** I will mount on the dash! A lot of information on this was discovered from reading up on MkII Escorts in the UK used for rally racing, Then I met a guy locally to me that does Time Attack and he was swapping out his set up for some even more wild KYB system.
I fitted my Sabelt steering wheel to the Woodward racing quick release (zero play in this unit) and added some carbon fiber brackets I will be using to secure the column to the chassis.

You have a beautiful ride. I like the "old school" touches like the vintage valve covers and white headers. I see so many '67-69 Camaros at car shows and the drag strip that I actually prefer the 'birds now. Keep up the good work!

Thank you! I really appreciate the kind words from everyone in here. I’m happy I’m building this car in my vision, not everything is unique but I’m doing all the work.

Now that's really cool! I dig these seemingly subtle upgrades, but there's nothing subtle about re-engineering everything to get something like this to work

To me it’s all about building my vision of a modern touring car and a vintage scca racer, while doing it on my own budget and by myself. A lot of years and hours have been spent studying and researching hahaha, it’s just neat to see it coming together with no formal training.

Absolutely, it’s asthetically pleasing to me to have a carburetor and distributor in a muscle car. Obviously there is more you can do with efi I suppose but honestly the performance isn’t much different between the two. I might have gone the more expensive route in all honesty, I’m not sure.

I decided to go with a more traditional look for my car. My new brakes will be based off the 1967-1969 SCCA Trans-Am series Camaro. I wanted to buy OEM calipers but it was almost $1200 a side and they are heavy as F**K so I decided to run everything period specific except for that. Wilwood D8-4 calipers will work and are much lighter. So im running factory 1969 Z/28 spindles, 1967 drum hubs, and 1969 Z/28 rotors. I will need to make a custom caliper bracket I am amusing. I think a 15" wheel and meaty tire will do the car more justice than the modern trend of 18" wheels.
I also got my cor support mocked up with the NASCAR spec C&R radiator and NASCAR carbon fiber duct.
