First day I got her....stopped to eat it was 4 hour drive to pick this up!

New momo wheel...yes horn works.
Hello folks...Just joining finally after getting my own 2002 WS6 black on black manual with only 55k miles...Just sold by 09 C6 to get her since I wanted something I could work on that was much more unique and classic. My dream car when I was in my mid 20s was a WS6. I have had Mustang GT, Lotus Elise, 05 GTO, and my 09 C6... Looking forward to sharing info and posting my progress...I attached first pic of her and the first mod...new steering wheel. Seats and audio on their way....

Nice! I wouldn't consider my 2002 a classic yet but I suppose it's getting close as far as the age.

Nice purchase! I see we have similar tastes as I own about the same cars as you did. I have under 9,000 miles on my '09 C6. I've owned my T/A since new.

Very nice car and I hope you enjoy it thoroughly! Your automotive progression seems a little backwards, as most guys go f-body to C6 rather than vice versa. How are you liking the car compared to the others you've owned?

LOL I know....Frankly I like to tinker and work on things. But also, if I put all this energy into a C6 it would still be a relatively common car. Frankly I had trouble deciding between the 2002 Firebird or a 78ish. If I put the same energy into the 02 firebird I am preserving some history by keeping this badass design on the road, and driving something that is quite rare and unique nowadays. When my 18 year old son posted the firebird on his Snapchat the reaction was crazy...everyone was asking what car is that? And complementing its looks. They don't know Firebird or even Pontiac. (yes we are that old lol)

As per car comparison would love to give my thoughts!

Lotus Elise - Undeniably beautiful car - but so small I felt silly in it sometimes - even though I got looks and pics all the time. Definitely the closest thing to a road legal go kart. Inherits all the good AND bad of a go-kart. Super tiny, uncomfortable. Handling is AMAZING doesn't have power steering so you are in control 100%, there is no input lag or steering wheel play, you feel the road and you feel every pebble also. Super light, very minimalist. Also OMG the crappiest build quality I have ever seen - essentially a kit car. Not a fast car its all about the handling and being a roadster. Horrible to work on, be in, get in and get out of. Lotus - engineered by gods built by monkeys. I ended up hating this car when I sold it.

2005 GTO - I regret selling this car - but don't have room for a collection. If not I would have kept C6 as well. Ok it wasn't a looker, definitely more of a sleeper design but with the hood scoops and dual exhaust you had hints something was up with this sedan. The interiors and seats were top notch, the drive was amazing and the LS engine and 6 speed were just a joy. European sedan build with American v8 acceleration and sound was a match made in heaven. I wish this concept would have continued - an American M3. Oh well.....

1995 Mustang GT - Well Mustangs are just cool. Most similar thing to our fbodies. Always loved them as well. Was very tempted to get the 2019 Mustang GT - the value and performance is just sick. 94-04 was very similar to our fourth gen fbody in driving experience, build, handling. I would say they felt a bit more nimble, smaller and quicker even if that didn't work out numbers wise.

2009 C6 - True two seater sport car. Takes off like a rocket, awesome transmission, fantastic daily driver with great AC, comfortable seats and plenty of storage room. Frankly to me Vettes are the perfect sport car. Amazing value and punching well beyond their price. I was very tempted to buy a used C7 - sick car. C8 will redefine sport car value in my opinion. But decided I wanted a project car for my next car which leads me to....

2002 WS6 - I think this is just a beautiful car - looks like some exotic from the 90s. If you showed one to a youngster in red and said it was a Lambo from the 90s they would believe you. The hood scoop, air vents, aggressive spoiler all of it over the top and frankly fantastic looking in this era of identical plain cars. You have a sea of jelly bean looking SUVs and then this "batmobile" comes along and just stands the hell out looking like it will eat the other cars in its path. Frankly I purchased it because of the looks. Driving it absolutely feels cool. The sound, the long hood, gives you sensation of something raw and unrefined in a good way like a race car. Handling - very 90s muscle car, bobs and leans like a boat in the ocean at high speeds - does not inspire confidence. BUT, I will enjoy working on that. Acceleration - spirited and fun but slow by modern standards, a V6 mustang would whoop me. Shipping it to Hawks Motorsports will fix that. Interior - well I am working on that as well. This car is like an old house renovation to me - the architecture is beautiful and should be preserved but it will be gutted and renovated.

"A V6 mustang would whoop me." I'm not so sure about that unless your car is just tired - and at 55k it shouldn't be.

And as for the GTO, I was thinking to buy one and drove several but in the end, there wasn't much that made me want one more than my Firebird. Better ride, better seats, a real back seat - but performance was about on a par, and the roof didn't come off for nice days

The Ecoboost is a 4 cyl and doesn't have the torque curve of an LS1 V8. Plus your car is lighter. You should easily beat the Ecoboost or the V6. The GT, however, will give you headaches.

Some guy in a modded V6 challenged me in my G8 (with my wife in it) and I beat him handily.

The I4 Ecoboost Mustang does the quarter in 13.9 and the older V6 (no longer offered) does it in 14.1 so mid-13s from a stock T/A would beat either one although not by a huge margin. The 5.0 GT is a 12 second car so the only chance you have there is going against a really dumb driver. The Ecoboost has more torque and builds it more quickly at the low end so it might be able to take a T/A stop light to stop light but the LS1 curve doesn't drop off so quickly so it has the advantage in anything longer than that.

But I have a six cylinder Honda that will beat a stock Trans Am quite handily. My Honda will beat a T/A's mid-13s by a full second... completely stock with 5-speed transmission, cruise control, CD changer, leather upholstery, and all the luxuries.

I have the Mustang in my signature, the Gold Wing I mentioned, a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee that I just got in March, and my wife's Gold Wing trike.
