I had the same P1518 on my old 2002 3800 Firebird. I ended up replacing the throttle pedal assembly. Replacing the throttle body didn't do it for me. I got lucky though, there's a guy near me who parts out 4th gens so I was able to pick up used parts for pretty cheap.

(Not all do.)
Ah, yes I think I misunderstood. As I mentioned before I looked at live reading of TPS. Thought your were implying that I didnt have the right thing.
But to your point, I did exactly that. Stood infront of car while wife pressed pedal. The blade opened but no change in TPS reading.

So deff the TAC module only. Was there anything else you did?

.

I swapped the throttle body assembly first, when the issue came back, I reinstalled the old one and then replaced the TAC module. That resolved my issue.

OK. That's pretty conclusive that the sensor you are reading isn't playing nicely. I would take the part off and bench test it next to make sure. (Sometimes these don't report so nicely through the serial connections in the scanners, but doing a resistance check on the bench will confirm 100%.)

I have a V6 car here that's being converted over to DBW and a V8. What is that you need?

The TAC module connected to the pedal. I believe it's all one piece.

No sir, it is the pedal assembly, only because the module is attached to it.

Installed TAC and same result.
Worked for a few when I deleted the code. Throttle position responded in the app perfectly.
Started charging the AC, because Im on a roll, and then it started chugging.
Sure enough the code is back and throttle was no longer reading.
Deleted code again and was well for a few minutes.

IDK whats next at this point.

Did you bench test the sensor and check the resistance before and after the install? It would help to know if the sensor was good before, if its good now, etc. That will help you trace down a problem with a wiring short vs. the actual sensor.

So you were able to get your hands on one and it still didn't resolve your issue?

Nope. No idea how.
I find it strange that it would work great, but then the PCM decides it doesnt and puts it in limp mode.

There should just be two wires that provide the sensor output and the sensor should be a varistor. You can use an ohmmeter and see the resistance change as the sensor TPS signal changes. If the resistance doesn't change or if there is a short and no resistance - the sensor is bad.

Ill have to scour the schematics. FSM doesnt correlate the TPS and code 1518 at all.
