Its very easy to just make your own. They sell the clear covers on ebay for $80. Paint it and stick some leds behind it.

what are you talking about?

they are $65.00 from afterthoughts auto
im waiting for mine. Since the covid nonsense they are getting plexiglass/lexan/lucite very slowly...backorders of the product so it will take about 2...3...4 weeks to get them.
mine hopefully will be here next week.
if you want to illumi ate it with color changing leds or something then just tape up the bird from the inside and then scuff the entire inside of all exposed surfaces and paint it with the vody color of your car...here is where matching your paint will be a godsend so it is not mismatched and paint...airbrush it from the inside and tap the color changing programmable leds to your fog lights power wires and when driving keep it white or yellow/amber to be 50 state legal and you can do cor changing when parked or at a car show or whatever....if you want to take a change of being cool and get an
"ILLEGAL ORNAMENTAL LIGHTING" Ticket then go for it up to you
but few things. You must scuff the inside surface with 400...600 grit paper or 3m scuff pad. Anything rougher you will see those scratches thru it and no primer or you will have a primer colored plate cover cause its the inside so your first layer will be the lkayer you see
if you f it up you will end up having to paint the outside and try to salvage your plate cover.
ill take photos when i do mine and post them up and show the scuffing and airbrushing steps and taping steps and since the cover is clear it will.look fantastic like it has 40 layers of high end ppg clear coat on it
any body shop will be able to mix an ounce or two of paint matched paint for your car after using a color scanner that uses sunlight light and takes a photo and breaks down the color mix so it matches because after 20...22 years or so your paint and clear have oxidized and the color code wont match 100% even if the car has 200 miles on it and has been mothballed in a garage it still fades and oxidizes
lighter colors will oxidize less but will still occur
i am going to put the color programmer in the center console so i can control the.lights or just turn them off and i will also do the center tail light panel same way with clear lexan or acrylic and mold it to the shape....put the bird and trans am logos on it from the inside. Scuff all remaining surfaces with 600 grit 2m scuff pad...paint it black from the inside and glue it in place and remove the black plastic origional cover plastic plate and illuminate it from behind peel the stickers after painted and glue it in place and seal it up and boom 1 controller will control both front and rear birds and labels and they will always be in Sync front to back and able to be turned on and off from the fog light switch or aftermarket fog light switch
LEDs take so little power you dont even need to wire in a relay because they pull 1 watt maybe 1.5 watts so any switch can handle that small power without a relay... if you want to outfit the whole car with color changing leds u der hood under car illuminated door sill plates front and rear birds and under the door or under side view mirror projectors then i would suggest a relay and run ignition power to the lights and wire the switch to power on and off the relay so you never have a point where you burn out the switch or burn wires or god forbid catch wires on fire and burn part or all of your car to the ground....
photos below are
illuminated color changing sill plates...floor mats...projector lights...clear license plate front cover...fog light switches.....
up to you to think outside the box and get creative with all the cool lighting options available to us out there and projects to build and create yourself

thanks
Jennifur.

Illuminated air filter underside to shine on all your chrome and polished aluminum engine parts

Clear front license plate cover. $65.00 each

Illuminated sill plates

Illuminated floor mats

Illuminated floor mats

Illuminated sill plates

Illuminated sill plates. 99.00 per pair

Fog light illuminated switches with 5 leads (amazon...5 dollats each) includes wire harness

Pontiac trans am under door....under sideview mirrors projectors (wire these into the do.e.light circuit so when you open the doors they turn on and illuminate the ground unless you want to wire them in with the above switch to be able to.turn them on when you want to (if under side view mirrors or illuminating against your rear hatch glass or front or rear cwnter panels...up to you to be creative with these.

These projectors are crazy bright and crystal clear regardless how far from the floor or ground or under hood or whatever you are trying to illuminate.

Just got my new clear front license plate cover that Ill be airbrushing soon and illuminating with a programmable LED flexible light bar so I can program it for holidays and such
For instance, 4th of July, ill program it to fade from Red to White to Blue, for Halloween Ill program it to fade from Orange to Purple and on Christmas, ill program it to fade from Green to Red to white. Things like that.
I need to buy a bird sticker to put on the inside before I scuff it up slightly and paint it white to match the car and then after the paint cures, peel the bird with an Xacto knife and keep only the raised bird clear so that's where the glowing lights will be seen the rest will be white and ill be painting it from the inside so it will look like it has 12000 coats of clear over the white paint.
Ill take photos of the project as I go from scuffing to painting to the light bar and mounting the light "brain" or programmer in the center console unless it goes on my cell phone but rather have a controller in the car.
So stay tuned for photos/vids/Animated GIF images in next week or two.

I did similar - sometimes those LEDs are so bright that it still lights up the whole plate cover. so, after i painted mine silver on the inside - i then went over with a flat black to keep light from shining thru the painted areas.
i'll search for my pics and share

You are correct, this is why the LED set of light strips I bought from Amazon are able to be dimmed to 50% of their original brightness, and the led strips are like 10 inches long or maybe 12. They fit perfectly behind the plate cover, so I have them installed, I just need to run the wires through the bulk head, into the car because the light remote needs line of sight to the controller module sadly, so I need to extend the wires so a little pain in the rump but not the end of the world. I also have to order 2 of the "OVERLAY" decals for the bird so I can use one as a paint mask for painting the inside of the cover and then another overlay decal for outside once the paint work is completed so that the edges of the bird are what light up not the whole bird. Because my car is white, I think the photo above looks great on the darker colors, but perhaps might look a little washed out maybe??? So if I light it up first without the decal overlay on the bird and feathers, see if I like it, if not the decal goes on and thats what I go with Just have to play it by ear and see.

Happy turkey day/ Turkey funeral day/ Turkey Murder day everyone

Default Finished my Illuminated or "LIT" front "Phoenix" Firebird project

I got a chance to finish my front illuminated fire bird license plate cover yesterday I think it came out fantastic....
last night being new years eve I did not want to take even the slightest chance with getting pulled over so i kept it powered off but now I will set it to drive with it glowing white and with the hand held remote can scroll through the various light programs and it brings the front of the car to life and gives it a million dollar statement. I plan on doing the door panels next and I will probabl y start making full kits to sell.

kits will include all the necessary wiring and wiring connectors..
full detailed instructions with detailed hi res photos for ease of installation...
fully cbc cut lexan door panels with choice of decals. (Pontiac emblem..."Trans Am or Pontiac" lettering or the Phoenix fire bird decals)
1 hand held remote to make all 3 light kits work in sync (remote is IR so no line of sight needed...will work from 50 feet away and can tuck the lighting control module up under the fuse box on drivers side under the hood)
kit will include the clear front license plate cover
computer cut decal to use as paint mask
To produce the best results possible so after.painting the inside surface of the cover...peel the decal with an x-acto knife and then bolt onto the car after installing the light kit

if anyone has any interest in this setup...IM me here and that way I can get an honest opinion of the product...difficulty level of install...and hyper accurate detailed instructions review etc.

ill try to upload a few videos to show the frint bird.

Jenni

Clear front license plate cover airbrushed from behind so bird is able to be illuminated wi th programmable LED sequential lighting set with hand held remote

Standing by for videos. I purchased one of these clear covers back when they first came available in the late '90s/early '00s. I've been planning animated LED back-lighting and just haven't gotten around to it yet. I've now got an Arduino and some addressable LEDs to play with.

I made a short video last night and I scrolled thru the remote options pretty fast and did not let each digital light program run to its full length or the video would ve 10 minutes and 94 terabytes in size but this should give you a rough general idea of what it looks like and all.....I get tons of compliments on it everywhere I go...
I had to convert the video from an MP4 to MPG so if it fails forgive me and I will try to convert it into something else if I can...

thank you all...hope you enjoy....

I have the firebird projector lights to install as well but i am thinking of putting them on the bottom side of each side view mirror not drilling into the steel door which will start the rust process which i would like to avoid...I will also be doing the clear lexan door panels with the fire bird Phoenix with the same digital led lights this summer so i have a really jazzy interior and exterior...lastly I am thinking of illuminating the Phoenix in the middle of the tail lights as well little bit at a time.
