Default painted vs ceramic coated headers

simple question....whats the difference between them? as far as performance, and if you get the painted one do you have to repaint? since the original black paint chips off would that mean the headers are more susceptible to rust?. any and every bit of info would be really great. thanx

Ceramic coating won't chip or rust, paint will. Ceramic coating also helps keep heat in the headers. This helps keep temps under the hood lower.

Ok Since we are on this topic, Would wrapping the headers with heat tape also help?
I have seen this on several cars(Stang and old camaro's) and have seen it on ALOT of bikes. Would ceramic coated headers, and then heat wrap ontop that help keep temps down for better over all performance and HP gains? PM me or email me...

absolutely no comparison to paint vs.ceramic coating , paint will last all of 15minutes after the car is running. the thermal wrap is another thing all together. a lot of header manufacturers won't honor the warranty on products with heat wrap installed , something about creating "hot spots" that can cause potential problems. maybe a lot of bs , maybe not. you'll get arguments from both sides on the subject.

Pay the extra for ceramic ones. They will last longer than the painted ones with less maintenance.

keep the headers painted will be a neverending quest and will not save you money in the long run , fork out the extra dough and get'em ceramic coated.
