Am I the only bright purple metallic t/a on LS1tech.
I saw stang killer's thread and was thinking the same about mine. I know there is bright purple metallic Formula on LS1.com, but I have yet to talk to another bright purple metallic Trans Am owner. I searched the car on Google.com and only found one car that was on PontiacPower.com and seen one other on Autotrader.com, but it was very far away.

well, my 99 T/A was born white, but I thought the bright purple metallic looked too sweet, so I had my paint shop hook it up with the original factory color. I would never have been able to find one otherwise!

88/A327D. Might just be listed as A327 or a combination thereof, but this is the right color code. If you go to a paint shop , they might be able to find the code for whatever paint they use (BASF, Dupont..whatever...) by searching BRIGHT PURPLE METALLIC for 97-98 Firebirds. Good luck.

Compuvision02 - True, but that's why they make paint shops! yeah, trying to find a factory BPM is next to impossible. When I was shopping for a T/A, I'd would have had better luck finding gold nuggets in my poop than finding a BPM one for sale. I've only seen one BPM ram air in person, and that was in '98 when the new body styles came out! The pics do have a bit of chameleon look to them, but its only in the pic. Must be the sunlight or something. I have others in less bright sun that aren't so shimmery.
nice looking t/a, by the way

BPM was only in 1998 gunfightrr, it was only in production for a month or two before it was pulled off. I will hopefully get a new coat of BPM on my car, because it really needs it, I will get a WS6 hood at the same time. I am thinking a CETA style rear bumper, but silver instead of black. Also custom silver painted stripes on the hood and silver painted vents.
Here is a letter I got from Pontiac about BPM.
"Dear Mr. McManus,
Thank you for being patient while we researched your production total
inquiry on your 1998 Pontiac Firebird.
We found out that there were 462 1998 Firebirds made with the Bright
Purple Metallic paint, RPO 88U. There were 290 of the Firebird coupe
with this paint, 26 of the Formula coupe, and 84 of the Trans Am coupe.
The Trans Am Coupe numbers pertain to your vehicle.
We also found that there were a total of 12,046 Trans Am coupes for
1998. Out of this amount there were 2,949 produced with the six speed
manual transmission. Unfortunately, we do not have the total number of
Trans Am coupes with Bright Purple Metallic that have the six speed
manual transmission. We apologize for not having this information for you.
If you should need to contact us in the future, simply reply to this
message or call our Pontiac Customer Assistance Center at 1-800-762-2737
with your request number 1-183314701. Customer Relationship Managers

Eastern Time.
Again, thank you for contacting Pontiac.

I actually missed the chance for one of the BPM 98 Ram Air cars made last year around May timeframe. I saw it on Auto Trader for $18.5K and then it disappeared. Figured it had beed bought. Then about 6 weeks later it was back up for 13.5K and sadly I had already bought my other 93 T/A. Too bad too, because I REALLY wanted that car.
