Just trying to figure out what the WS9 code on my '99 T/A is. Does this mean that it started life as a Formula? Beauler?? Beauler?? thx.

My 99' says the same thing. I know, its confusing. I've searched around on the net and all i get is that its a formula conversion like you said
Let me know if you find out anything.

AFAIK they take the base model, convert it to a Formula, then slap on the T/A extras to wind up at the T/A.
Would certainly fit with the description I had always heard for the Formula - all the go fast bits of the T/A without the extra weight.

HHmmmmm....interesting thoughts. I just purchased the car from a guy who's owned it since '01. It had a ram air hood and factory ram air box installed when he bought it, but not sure if it was added by the original owner or what. The suspension is set up with the standard decorbon shocks, so I don't think there is any special suspension upgrade there. That will probably be my next upgrade. Not looking for a streetracer or dragster, but a solid handling ride.

Its because all T/A start as Formulas. I.E. Pontiac Firebird Formula TransAm WS6.
My WS6 has both the WS6 and WS9 RPO codes on the door
. As far as I know all 4th gen Formula and TransAms have the WS9 code.

I was told that it meant that in the middle of making the formula a order came in for a trans am so they converted it instead of starting a new car, can anyone confirm this? I have it on mine and the title is stamped formula gt but im pretty sure thats a mistake because to my knollege they only make trans am gt's.
