Angry Gas guage problem

Hopefully someone can help here. My gas guage is acting up. I can fill the T/A up and it will read full forever. But when i turn the car off and then back on it will read true gas level. Sometimes while driving it will jump all over the place. Its never correct. Just wondering if there is a simple solution or do I need to drop the gas tank to replace some parts. I know I can go by the miliage as when to fill it up but I just like my car to operate the right way. Thanks for any help provided.

Well Try What Blacktransam Said And If Your Good With Wiring Or Even Have Abuddy Thats Good On Wiring You Could Track It Down Sounds Like Either A Bad Fuel Sensor Or A Loose Ground Tha's My Guess ..

mine did the same thing. It would read full untill the tank was almost empity and it would jump down. and sometimes sporatically peg full. It went on for two months then one day after filling up it worked and i've never had a prob since. I was told its a ground wire fault in the tank so I decided to live with the problem. Luckly it fixed itself.

hi
working for gm last year my first day on the job i did about 6 tank sending units and 4 a day after that for about a month, until gm stopped replacing them under warrenty. Problem is the fuel you are using. Try changing gas stations/companies. 2nd gm selles a fuel system cleaner i forgot the exact name of it at the moment but the parts guy should know which one your talking about, put it in your tank full and drive until empty. It may take up to 3 treatments, if at that time your gauge still reads inacurate then its time for a new sending unit.
