In 1972 I watched a movie (yeah, I'm showing my age) where 2 identical TA's were driven in it.
I liked & wanted TA's since & have owned a 69 bird (350), 86 TA (original 5.0 TPI A4, converted to 5.7 TPI M5) & now my 00 WS6.

The only ways I'll get rid of my car is if:
A 70 mint GTO deal for even trade comes up (not likely)
It's in an accident where it's totaled (hope not)
The TA makes return & looks meaner than it does now (not likely either)

When i bought mine it was between a ss or a trans am I bought the trans am because it just looked alot more agressive to me. Even though the ss had a manual that I was looking for I chose the auto trans am. Now im very happy that i got the auto since its turning into a track car.

I was in the market for a C5 and on my way to go look at one when I saw a black C5 and a black WS6 staging on the freeway. Changed my mind right there on the spot. When I got off my exit to go home, there was a back '00 M6 WS6 fully loaded on the dealer parking lot. The rest is history

once i sold my C5 (i was paying to much on it and i wanted to mod it), i knew it was time for another Ls1 but this time around an F-Body! i wanted a SS or a WS6 but it had to be M6 and a 2002(i wanted the last year of production), color didnt matter to me. as luck turns out i found a silver 2002 m6 Ws6 at Carmax and the next day i found a silver 2002 m6 SS at david taylor caddilac. funny how they both are the same year, color, and trans. both had around the same mileage. after comparing both for a full 24hrs, i picked the Ws6 with 2886 miles on it! i love the hood and the body way more compared to the SS. very mean and aggressive! couldnt be happier! i still want more mods, but that comes with time and $$$.

My first car was an 83 T/A (5.0 w/ crossfire injection) which I still have. Ended up with a mustang (93 %.0 LX), then another mustang (96 GT) when I just so happened to pass the chevy dealership and saw the rear of a 4th gen T/A. I turned in to the lot and it ended up being a WS6. Left to go pay my car payment on the mustang and then went back to drool. Found out it was not new and was at a decent price. About a week later I drove it home. It was nice bieng 21 buying an 02 car in 02 (even if used) and paying for it all myself. Plus I had always wanted a 99 T/A and decided the 02 would suffice since it was the last year, I was also a Smokey and the Bandit and Knight Rider nut. I'm old enought to remember watching some of the shows in the 80's.

Thumbs up

I love the Trans Am because it looks like a brute who's walking over to knock you out with one punch. I used to prefer the WS6, but my '02 Hawk has a V.I.P. parking spot in my heart and garage. She is my garage queen of automotive lust I went for a cruise last night (3am), and stopped at a 24 hour food joint. I had all the lights on and stepped out to take look. Gloss black paint and chrome rims bling blingn' in the street lights... It matches with the custom license plate that reads " N TRUBL" I always get double the looks compared to my friend's '98 Z28. I'm now a diehard member of the CULT of T/A.

I was hooked like some other people here. Smokey and the Bandit and Knight Rider was it for me. I've owned an 84 Trans Am with a 305 H.O., an 87 GTA 350 TPI, I had a 95 Z28, and my present car 98 WS6.

Well to make it short in h.s. in 97 when the ls1s t/as just came out I told my friend if i were to buy a new performance car that would be it since at the time I had an 86 irocz then a 87 gn and now my 02ws6 bought brand new and still paying it off. But what got me hooked on t/as was of course SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT, and KNIGHT RIDER. best thing to happen to t/as since John Delorean.

Always wanted an f-body, although I'd still like to own a 67-69 Camaro. Dad has owned one since I was 6, and I thought the 93-2002 Formulas looked better than the Camaro, so I started looking at buying one about 4 years ago. Decided I wanted a 2000 Formula, 6-speed, t-tops, dark blue/purple metallic. Took 6 months but finally found one, although it's an auto. Ended up being for the better considering it's a bitchin bracket racer and the auto has definately won me more races than the stick ever would have. After almost 3-1/2 years and 92,000 miles later, it'll be hard to part with.

My first f-body was an 85 candy-gold TA(later painted to black) with a 350 bored .030 over, HUMONGOUS cam(forgot the specs, but it didn't idle too well ) Turbo 350, 4000 stall, 3.73 posi-trac, and drag radials. Had about 420 hp at the crank. Even had AC. Had true duals, no cats, my wife puked all over in it after going for a ride, due to fumes and due to it SHAKING THE GROUND! Everyone thought it was the baddest thing, tho the ttops leaked and it stunk. It was eventually stolen and pretty much destroyed
I now have my 01 TA, got it a bargain. Wouldn't have any other car. It gets looks all the time

Well, I started out looking for a fuel efficient car in Febuary. Civic Hybrid, Jetta TDI, and Mazda 3, were my choices. The hybrid was smooth but not sporty, no flair at all. The TDI had a lot of acceleration but was sedate on styling. Both of them were over 20k at that time. Looked at the Mazda 3. I liked that. Good acceleration, great handling, and decent mpg 21/25. The way I wanted it, cost over 18k with the spoiler. Then I looked at the Vibe. GM discount would make that 15k. Average 29/31 mpg. It didn't handle as well as I wanted so I looked at the GP GT2 handled well with good gas mileage. 22/27 or so.

While driving through a dealer lot one June night I saw a different spoiler. It was on a black TA. :-) There were so many problems with it, it took the dealer untill July 7 to prep it for sale. I test drove it and was amazed. Acceleration, handling, stlyling. I checked on insurance and it wasn't all that much more than the other vehicles. The M3 was 550/6mo, the GP was 666/6mo, and the TDI was 850/6mo, So 791/6mo for a TA was good.

That TA was drove hard and not cared for. They wanted too much for so I passed. I knew I wanted a V8. My doctor was selling his 84 vette. I could afford it quite easily. So I had to debate. Modern performance vs. older top end performance. I decided to go with the modern performance and safety. ABS and air bags are nice.

I went to the dealers and put out the feelers for a TA or Z28. One place said they would try to get me a new Z28 (shows how much they know). A place called back saying to see them in October they had a blue TA comming in. About that time a GTO lease was available so I considered that but bland styling and low mpg 16/21 scarred me. Others I spoke with got 11/16 mpg ouch!

October came around, and I got a phone call to come take a look at a 99 blue formula ws6. i get there and it is a 99 blue TA. It had the spoiler I wanted so not bad, I could buy a hood. The car was immaculate, well cared for, and well below blue book. They keep telling me it is formula but thats not what the badging/original invoice says. :-) Hey there loss, my gain. And the EPA rates the TA as 18/24.

Why buy a 4 cylinder with similar mpg, less handling. You are going to push the 4 cylinder to its limit every time you get on the expressway. Odds are I would try to drive it like a sports car. So why not just buy a sports car and drive it responsibly? With the TA you have power, handling, efficiency, and distinctive stlye. When I saw a Sebring and mistook it for a Camaro, I couldn't think about the camaro anymore.

Thats my story. Sorry if it is too long and boring.

I'm a die-hard Chevy guy, and was shopping for a fourth-gen Camaro. Then I decided that I liked the styling of the Firebird better after I saw my 'bird. Since they're mechanically the same, I justified it in my mind that it was ok to by the Pontiac since it had the Chevy engine
