Those GT's are decent cars. I had an '01. They obviously aren't as fast as an LS1 but they aren't too bad. Their main problem is lack of low end power and not enough gear. They are slugs until you get them moving. You throw some gears in those GT's and they are fun little cars. I sold mine and bought another LS1 because the LS1 fits my idea of a performance car a little better but the Mustangs have their upsides too. They feel more nimble to me then an F-body and a bit more tossable around town. Plus I think they are built better and more solid. I can see why some people prefer Mustangs over F-bodies and I can definitely see why the mainstream non-car people bought the Mustang over the F-body, but for a car guy you can't arguge with the LS1's out of the box performance for the dollar.
Yeah and the Trans AM is my dream car and I drive a Mustang go figure!!

BRING THE FIREBIRD BACK!!

Is there anyway I can get a new one made for me

You can find them "somewhat new." Every now and then I'll see a 1,000 mile '02 car for sale or something like that. That's about as new and you're going to get. If you like Trans Ams go ahead and get one because years down the road they'll be old. At least now they are only 3 years out of production and you can still find them with low miles.

Yeah the problem with that is I'm looking for a V8 automatic with the ram air hood and less than 40,000 miles.

Heck man there are tons of automatic Trans Ams and Formulas out there with less then 40k miles. The ram air hood reduces your search somewhat but remember you can always buy those even if it didn't come on the car. What's your price range?

Getting back on subject, my buddy has a 99 GT and that thing halls *****! He only has a K&N and flowmasters. Hes got 125,000 miles on it and it still pulls like it did when new. I gotta say that I hope mine runs that well 100K from now. I only have 23,800 on my LS1. All that he has replaced is the gears and an axel cause he beats it like it like a red headed stepchild. He was known for having the fastest car in our group of friends. And naturally, when I got an LS1 he wanted to race to try and save his ego. before I even had a K&N on my car (First mod), we raced at a stop light. I took off and saw him spinning his tires back at the light still. It wasn't even close. God that felt good! Now everyone is like, "no way man, you've got a 5.7" An LS1 will even cook those new 05 GTs. I test drove one. Doesnt even pull as hard as my 02 TA. Soooo glad I didnt dish out 29K for one of those. The Ford dealership kept calling me after I bought my TA. "Dealer- yeah um..we've got more mustangs if you want to come down and look at them. Me- no sir, thanks. already got a car in the mean time. Dealer- Oh...was it a mustang? Me- no sir, went with a GM car, a Trans Am. Dealer- Alright then...click!" hahahahahhaha!

Well I'm looking not to pay over $450 per month when it comes to the car note and nothing over $330 when it comes to insurance.

Look at E-bay, there are plenty of low mileage WS6 TA's there. I traveled two states over to get mine because the price and mileage was right. HOWEVER...if I were to buy another Trans AM (and if I had more money)...this is what I would get...I think this would make a clean collector/show car.

Here is my dream TA
02 Collector edition with less than 10k miles and a 6-speed (the yellow one)
then install:
eibach springs
ceramic coated kooks LT headers
stainless steel cat-back
ATI procharger (do some nice graphics on the intake box)
Chrome intake
Dress up the engine bay

Of course this will more than double the money I have in my current Ws6.

Newby here. Tornatic, RC_Y2KWS6TA is right on target about Ebay. I was in Iraq last year when I found my black WS6 on Ebay for just a hair over 19 grand with about 37k miles. They had a lot of pics, all the maintenance records came with the car, and CARFAX came up clean. The dealership is located in Houston, and when I flew back to the states, they had the car ready to go for me. They even sent a limo to pick me up from the hotel. If you're interested, the dealership is called Texas Toys and I can give you an intro to my sales rep.

I am paying 425/month for the payments and insurance is 176/month...I have a wreck on my record 2 years ago that should roll off soon, and I am 24 so I am still paying the under 25 increase. If you are paying 330/month for insurance, you are getting A$$ raped.

Man whats up with those payments. 425/month???? I'm guess I'm glad I bought a 2000 Formula instead of the TA. My car had 24k miles on it and every option except the ws-6 and I only paid 11,500. payment is only 245/month.
