Found this on Consumerreports.org:
2002 Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird
Problem: Driver's side door pillar could fail in a crash.
Models: 41 vehicles.
What to do: Have dealer install strengthening rivets.

That's the first I've heard of this recall. Seems odd that it's only for the driver's side pillar and not both driver & passenger sides. Since they've listed it as 41 cars, they must know exactly which cars are affected....or at least have it narrowed down the day(s) they were assembled with the defective part(s).

add strengthening rivets? doesn't sound like that would make much difference. As I do alot of the recalls that come out I must say that most of them are not worth the trouble to do. many are dumb and pointless and don't do anything to speak of but saves gms *** a lawsuit because they "attempted" to fix the problem.
The 3.8 v6 on grand prix and such for example has a campaign where you stick 5 coolant tabs into the coolant and change out the nuts on the throttle body to help prevent intakes from leaking that campaign is completely dumb and won't help the problem at all. First the nuts on the throttle body show that the people that came up with it didn't understand what the problem really was sense the intakes don't leak around the throttle bodies on those unless someone messes with it. Second the coolant tabs will not stop an intake from leaking they may slow it down or worse plug up coolant passages but not stop the kind of leaks the intakes develop. This is a classic example of how most recalls are really worthless and don't do much good most times.
