I have a Terk Sirius antenna secured on the dash, but not glued down so as to never ruin the integrity of the finish. Wiring from the antenna was run under the dash, down the trim and all stashed behind the radio. The weight of the cradle and the receiver required a special arm that is bolted to the rear of the center console so that it wouldn't sag. It has a ball head on the end so that the angle of the receiver is completely flexible.
Having an A4 Firehawk with the emblem and the shifter and the cup holder and two lit LED heated seat switches all on the small console left no room to put this anywhere else.
Hey,
There is no DOUBT that satellite radio is the best thing to ever happen to music.
The radios can be had cheap enough. I decided on Sirius because in the year that I wasted...err...worked for General Motors test driving vehicles in sales, I really didn't find too many stations I cared for on XM.
And lo and behold...I look at an ad in the Sunday paper from Best Buy and XM went and RAISED their price to $12.95 a month to match Sirius, not the other way around.
When I bought my system, I purchased the Audiovox PNP2 receiver with the car kit and the boombox. I have the system installed in both of my cars and simply move it to and fro by unlatching it from the base.
I mostly listen to Buzz Saw (hard but well known metal/rock) and Hair Nation (all '80s' rock) but also enjoy a great choice of 80's, 90's rock, jazz, uncensored comedy, the FULL NFL season on radio, 24 hour news from Fox, CNN etc., 24 hour weather and traffic in many major cities and so much more.
But the number one reason I bought a satellite radio:
NO F'ING COMMERCIALS
I am obsessed with a malice about commericals. I pay a huge sum of money per month to have pure digital cable in my home to avoid crappy commercials and do not mind one bit about paying for radio to be able to hear what I WANT to hear when I WANT to hear it and not watch my brain cells die every 5 minutes with the latest car dealership or male enhancement commercial blasting at me.
My unit came with a remote control which makes for perfectly safe and happy driving and the volume is still good on my steering wheel controls, so I can raise and lower and mute when necessary.
I got a deal last July where Sirius was matching XM's then-price of only $9.95 per month if you signed up for a year, and I did.
I am a very enthusiastic customer of Sirius satellite radio and highly recommend it. Just be picky like me: get a custom install so that the stupid ugly antenna doesn't sit on your roof and ruin the looks of your F-body and hide all the wires so that it looks totally clean and practically "factory" when you see it.
Happy Shopping!
