Default Couple questions....

Hey all, I just have a couple questions for you guys. A buddy of mine is about to pick a '94 Formula M6. The car has 150k on the clock. His brother has a '95 5.0 Mustang vert. As far as I know, they are both stock. I know the 5.0 is, and Im not to sure about the Formula, but from what I understand it is. My first question is, which one is faster, drivers being equal? My second question is about the paint. In the advertisement in the newspaper, it says it has a special edition black paint that GM tried on the Formula's that is the same paint that is used on the stealth bomber? And supposedly it makes it really hard to detect by the cops with their radar? I have never heard of this, so I am baffled and I dont know what to tell him. I have an LS1 so I figured I would come over here and see if anyone can can give me some insight. Thanks in advance.

the formy will kill the stang..

The paint story sounds like bull. The bommers body and the use of sharp angles is what makes it not detected my radar. The black paint wouldn't do jack on an A10 trying to come in without getting picked up on radar

You do realise he said stock. As far as I know Mustange's didn't come "stock" with 5.0's since 92' or 93', I can't remember.

Mustang came with a 5.0 until 1995.

By the way 93' WAS the last year of the Mustang 5.0. The 95' had a 4.6.

Glad to hear the Formy will take the Stang, I will let him know. I know one way to tell if the Stang has a 5.0 or 4.6 is the taillights, unless they have been switched out. The 5.0's taillights went sideways and the 4.6 stangs go up and down. Well either way, whatever year it is, I know it is a 5.0. And I'm 99% sure it is a '95. Thanks guys!

Umm I actually think the 1995's did come with 5.0's last year they did it, and it dynoed soo shitty...like 198 hp or something like that and they stopped and went on about their way. Anyways the formula would rape it! My car put a whoopin' on a 99 cobra vert and he has full exhaust and headers....I had the same and we pulled hard, especially on high end. As for the paint I have no clue, but I had a nice laugh reading about that

general rule of thumb. The only stangs that the LT1 guys have to worry about is the 99+.

Maybe a 99 cobra, but not a GT. An Lt1 would take an 04 Gt pretty good. Now, when we start getting into an 03 or 04 cobra, that's a different story. They would smoke us...

2001+ Cobra is what we have to worry about, and LT1 should be able to take any stock GT...

No, 95 was the last year of the 5.0, you could have gotten a 95 with a 4.6 I believe but I know 95s had 5.0s in them.

Quote from: http://home.pon.net/hunnicutt/history_94_04.htm (Mustang History site)

’96 saw the introduction of the 4.6L SOHC with 215 HP in the GT and a 305 HP DOHC for the Cobra. The original small-block that became the 5.0L had been around since 1961. Because of tightening emissions and economy standards Ford decided it was time for a new generation of small-block engines. The modular design makes it cost effective to create engines of different cylinder configurations--like inline 4's, V6's, even a V4, V10 or V12.

yes, we should always beat the GT's stock for stock. but they are close enough that we need to worry about them.

Yeah I know... One reason I went with a TA instead of a Cobra is because stock for stock and year for year TA is faster...

actually the paint on the "stealth bomber" is a black radar absorbant paint, its makeup is still considered top secret, the triangular shapes AND the paint help reduce its radar signature to that of a small bird. so I really doubt chevy would paint a fbody with it... so if the car is a dull black, its not "Stealth paint" its probably primer lol.
