I have a 95 LT-1 Trans AM. I bought it in '98 w/ 33,000 miles and drove it everyday until last year. Now it has 149,000miles. I stopped driving it last year becuase I bought a beater for $75 to drive in rain, snow, and whatever else. I probably should have done that years ago but better late than never.

The car has held up VERY WELL and never left me stranded but there was a couple close calls. I had a radiator hose blow out less than 0.1 miles from home around 80,000. Needed a clutch around 90,000, drivers side window motor around 110,000, dirty injectors causing misfires around 120,000, air in the rear brake lines at 149,000 (bleeding them fixed the problem).
Now... Passenger side window motor seems to be weak, and I'm putting brakes and rotors on this weekend. I got a good 40,000 miles on all tire sets without ever getting a wheel alignment. Overall, the car has been very reliable and everything still works, and it still goes like hell.

What tires are you running? I am lucky to get 20k on a set.

I always go with whatever Joe (my tire guy) tells me I should run with. He is a BF Goodrich dealer so that's what I always get. Right now I'm running something called "Merit" Metric XSE-V on the rear (I never heard of them either). On the front, I am still running my old BF Goodrich G-Force T/A KDWS. Funny thing... I went out to check the Tires and realized that the Merits are directional and one of them is going the wrong way. I drove it about 5,000 miles that way so far and didn't notice. Anyway... I've always been happy with the tires I've had on it.

My 97 A4 has 115,xxx and I get about 15 most of the time and 17 is the best in town and 14 the worst. The best on the highway was 28 and worst was 24(quick trip to Dallas) . The only thing I had to do was replace the intake gaskets but I hear that is a common problem on the LT1, the rear seal leaking. I change the oil regularly.

Agreed, at proper pressure, some harder compound tires will last a while. My current set has 33,000 miles and plenty of tread left (Kumho 712's), while I got about 30,000 from each set of Goodyear GSC's.

Bought my car with 17,568 miles on it had the rear passanger 02 go out at 53,000 miles, Next was the pilot bearing at 75,000 miles, Went ahead and replaced clutch while the transmission was out with centerforce 2 dual friction, and swapped the cam, now it has 82,687 on it. Hasn't left me stranded yet with the cam and my bolt ons I get about 14mpg in town, and 26mpg on the highway. When it was stock I got 21mpg in town and 33mpg on the highway, this is a M6 car with 3.42s, Ive drove from south carolina to california and back 3 times, this car has been very dependable. By the way I have 30,000 miles on my KWDs on the front with about half the tread left. I melted the backs off and just replaced them 2 week ago so I got 30,000 out of the back set and about 20 1/4 mile runs with burnouts plus numerous Rice and Stang kills. Now I have BFG drag radials on the back. I allready have a moser 12 bolt ready to go in, So far I got about 25 1/4 mile passes on the drag radials and 2000 miles rear hasn't broke yet, but it is developing a pop when I apply my brakes No whinning or vibration just a pop like which I assume is the ring and pinion getting slopping didn't make that noise before the slicks. I'll probably pull it soon so I can tear it apart and investigate the areas taking the beating then let you all know also post some pics, figure it might help some upgrade the 10 bolts weak area so theirs wont break.

This was done on the stock rear with the slicks at langley speedway, As you can tell I drive it hard and it still hasn't given me much of a problem. Silly imports burnouts are for domestics!

My 99 TA has 115,000 miles on it. I bought it with 92K back in March. I drive 110 miles round trip to work; mostly highway miles. I blew the tranny the day after I bought it, but it was under warranty so I escaped that $1500 expense. I change the oil once per month and wash it 1-2 times a week. I haven't had the problems with the car that others have had like window motors and headlight motors...yet. I did replace the warped stock rotors with a set of drilled/slotted rotors that I found on ebay. I have to buy new rims 'cause one it bent. Other than that this is a fun car to drive daily. I love it.

Edit: I get between 285 to 340 miles per tank.

I bought my car with 75k on the clock and had to replace the thermostat at 80, and I have already warped the rotors ( but thats my fault for sure ). I get fantastic gas mileage for a 300HP V8. I get 22-24MPG city depending on my driving "mood" and pretty damn close to 30MPG on the hwy no matter what. Granted I have 272 gears so that probably is a big reason for it... either way I drive it every day and wouldnt trade it for anything! The only thing I dread is driving it in the winter, but I'm sure it'll be ok

I get 20 miles with the A/C on in city. 28 miles on highway round trip to work and back is 20 miles. I don't know what hp I am at, but I still lay down 12 at the track. Plus I have over 178,000 miles on her. I didn't always live 20 round trip.

51k+ over 3-1/2 years to Lousville, KY, Norwalk, OH, and several day trips to VA/NJ/WV/MD.

Still going strong, and averaging 17 mpg city, 24 mpg highway w/3860# race weight.
Not bad, considering and still manage mid-high 13's on the skids w/street tires.

64k+ Miles on the clock - replace the oil every 3k miles with Mobil 1 5w30 Syn. GREAT fun to drive every day and gets awesome mileagle on trips (I have an M6). This car does everything well and can be made much better with not a whole lot of money (depending on how far you want to go) and can STILL be a daily driver. Dependable if you TAKE CARE of it. I've babied mine since the clutch install and it's hating me right now... last owner beat the crap out of it and It's not enjoying the pampered life...

Gas mileage isnt half bad, i mean compared to my old trans am that had a 454 big block. 17-23 mpg isnt bad. =) as a daily driver its great, then again i drive like a maniac and these cars loved to be driven that way.

Well, these Louisiana roads beat the hell out of my Firehawk. Our roads are so bad that it knocked the LH balljoint out on my 01' 10th Ann Firehawk, and I had to have the cradle realigned/front end alignment because of it. The gas mileage wasn't too bad...I loved the power and the looks I got, but I felt ashamed driving the car around letting it get abused by the undermaintained roads (Bilstein suspension was giving a rough ride too). I sold my Hawk to a guy in Colorado three months ago who swore to take good care of him.
I am finishing up with my replacement 4th gen...2000 WS6...but giving it a more forgiving suspension setup for daily use.

I usually get anywhere from 17-21 in town, that's to work and back a 40 mile round trip. On the hwy, i get 24-28 depending how far i have my foot buried or the Cruise control set. The car is awesome for DD, only prob i've had since i bought the car with 60,000 miles is 5th gear going out...car has 108,000 now...oh, it's a 97 T/A m6
