Were there any special edition cars built with whale-tails. Like a macho T/A or something on that lines. I have a buddy looking at a T/A that has one that is said to be original.

The whale tale was NEVER original. The whale tale was aftermarket only.
There was a private company that you could sent your car to. They would work their magic on them and part of the package was a whale tale. Sort of like Steeda does for Fords nowadays.

It was either Mecham or Herb Adams that did a whale tail type spoiler. I believe it also had flared fenders and qtrs and a race car type suspension. Someone found one on ebay not long ago, I'll see if I can find the link and post it for you.
