Exclamation Window motor problems!!

I just bought my car about a month ago, it's a 02' Trans-Am M6. When I got the car from the dealership the window on the driver side didn't go down all the way, they said that they were gonna fix the motor, I got the car back and it was fine...3 weeks later it's doing the same thing!!! I need to know what is the easiest way to fix this damn thing. I pulled the door panel off last night and saw that they didn't even fix the ******* thing, the rivets are still in place. HELP!

Same thing happened to me, I went to Autobone and bought one for $40.00. Not to hard to install, just take your time.

you can buy them on ebay for like 40 bucks also. They are easy to replace you just have to drill the pop rivets out. But if you just bought the car i'd take it back to the dealers and tell them they didnt fix it and that they need to replace the motor. If they dont then you'll have to buy a new motor and do it yourself.

Thanks for the advice, looks like I found a project for the weekend. Do I take the old motor out of the hole to the left on the door frame? and put the new one in the same way? I've never done it. Thanks.

As stated by 87 gnx, get the motor from autozone. It comes with a lifetime warranty. I installed my own window motor after i got quoted $250 for parts and installation. I found out how to install it on installuniversity.com. Its very easy and straight-forward.

The new motor goes in the same place as the old one. The only difference is that instead of poprivets holding in the new motor you'll use some nut and bolts. The hardest part is just taking off the door panel (which is also easy).

Only the motor needs to be replaced.
The motor has an internal circuit breaker that weekens.

Here is the FAQ for window motor replacement:

This is to clear up all the crap about the window motor junk. GM in its infinite wisdom decided that even though the windows in the f bodies were 40% heavier than all the other cars they produce and that the curvature also presents more resistance that they should not design a new window motor design to cope with this greater burden. They instead increased the wire gauge to the motor hoping it would help with the increased load. This didn't quell the problem though as the motor was not allowed to draw enough current to push the window up. Even if it had the right amount of power, it is still too weak of a motor to lift that heavy of a window. GM put out a bulletin a few years back to tell all the techs they were working on a solution and until then to just keep putting motors in. The solution never came and the cars all came out of warrenty so as GM wouldnt have to fix them for free anymore they stopped attempting to fix the problem as it wouldnt cost them anything anymore. Shows how much GM loves its children.
