You need to port the hell out of the stock intake system (plenum& intake) after that it's pretty much a standard small block (except for the roller cam introduced in 87)
Don't know if you're wanting to spend more on it than just the N20, or what, head over to thirdgen.org (the ls1tech of the 3rd gen world) and read some of the posts over there (use the search they get really bitchy if you don't)

Stealth Ram intake and bigger throttle body works well with TPI. I had edelbrock TES headers. Maybe some 1.6 roller rockers. How deep do you want to go into the engine? If it runs well, I wouldn't just juice it until it blows. There are plenty of aftermarket parts for the tpi. I had a 388 tpi with a stealthram manifold, blah, blah, blah, and I loved it.
