Fuel or ignition? 74 Esprit 350 2bbl
I'll try to make this short and logical.
74 pontiac 350 2bbl, 59K miles
petronix flame thrower points eliminator kit
fresh plugs wires etc...
Car runs good until it gets warm under the hood (from what I can tell)
Did this to me twice last summer on very hot days, and did it to me today in 55 degree weather but after the car had been idleing for a long time to dry the engine.
Car will idle fine but then die on throttle tip in. Sometimes it can be coaxed into staying running, sometimes it dies and won't restart for a good 10 minutes.
It ran fine today, then wouldn't start after being shut off for 15 min. I let it sit an hour and it started and ran great.
It was getting spark today when it wouldn't start, I can't say how strong the spark is (believe it or not this is the first time I've had to check for spark in a car, lawn mowers don't count in my book).
So...is it time for a carb rebuild, or do I need a new petronics unit?
