Just did mine today ... I had 1/4 cracks on both doors. Upon removal of the panels, I could see that the cracks were twice that long on the back side. I followed your procedures - thanks, Banditman - but I really didn't notice any pressure caused by the staples.

I used wire and tied it loosely to provide room for expansion. On the surface side, I used a little black primer in the crack where it had turned white ... it's non-reflective and so you can't see it. What you really notice is the dip in the door panel plastic under the weatherstrip. I really think the molds were old and there is a defect in the plastic at that point.

One last thing - after I had done the repair, I noticed that the small print on the package said that the "Plastic Welder" will not bond to polyethelene or polypropylene plastics. I know it's not the latter and hope it's not the former! It seemed to adhere fine and dried very quickly.

Just throwing this out there for opinions.......

Would applying the Plastic Repair Glue on the back of the panel at the weak area be enough reinforcment to prevent the crack without removing the staples?

Has anyone tried this? Just curious.

I have a 99 Firehawk and have had none of the issues I've heard posted on this site....until now. The car turns 8 years old and all of a sudden, the window motor has gone out, the roof paint has started to bubble and the door panels have cracked. Wonderful!!

I had a crack also Took mine to a body shop, and they repaired it I cant tell where the crack use to be anymore cost was $60.00 & warranty. It was a carstar autobody,it's been 2yrs and no problems. Hope this helps

My passenger side is Fooking Huge i think its from passenger hanging their arm out the window and its putting all the stress on the panel

Ill get a pic of it today, i bet its the biggest crack than anyones on here

Both of mine are cracked as well.

2002, 43K miles. Glad I paid 32 grand for a car that everything related to the doors has broken. Both speakers blown, both windows motors suck ***, both have crack in plastic....Just waiting for the frickin doors to fall off so I can cover the area with plastic and call it a day.

No luck with this getting forwarded to someone who can maybe initiate some action for repair?

YES, I READ THE STICKY. but i didnt find anything about it being a recall or not. Just wondering because my mom paid to fix hers on her Trans Am (yes, my 53 yr. old mom rolls an LS1) a couple years ago. Wondering if it was a recall or not??
